Starts with the final part of something - and "ends" with a common name of a bloke.
No personal experience of them.

Send them this and explain why they're idiots. It's covered in "our general approach"

Thanks. Will do.

As a side note - I'm more exasperated that they wouldn't tell me what trade values they were using. They wouldn't say what the guides said, nor what options had been selected. I personally - would accept a value very close to what they offered. I'm more annoyed that they can't be open about it. I'm talking about: X says this, Y says this, Z says this - thats why I'm only offering you this amount.

I actually had the lady on the phone going through auto-trader with me. Given the link you provided shows they don't use them as guides. Seems slightly ironic that she wanted me to send "evidence" that my car was worth more, but wasn't even willing to tell me what her guides say. When I pointed out I had been given the guides I was put on hold.

No insurer will share the trade guide figures with you. That's not an issue

You'd be amazed how little some options add to the value of a car, even if they were expensive options when first selected. The opposite can apply too. For example Xenons mean little or nothing added, whereas SatNav used to make a huge difference on a top of the range family saloon. Often it could be a bigger difference than the option cost in the first place.

Now why doesn't that surprise me?

They are the major player in the field of providing insurance policies for students. Most people of that age do not have a great deal of life experience. As a result they tried to take advantage of our daughter;s lack of it while she was at uni. As you might imagine, when I discovered what was happening I was rather less than impressed. The amount of my time that had to spent on guiding her through that particular minefield was unbelievable and it was a serious distraction from other concurrent matters which ought to have had my undivided attention. It was price I was willing to pay though.

They made a big mistake when their actions and attitude ended up getting me involved.

Just a small update - this company are the gift that keeps giving.

Apparently I put down the date I brought the car in August, but the V5 says it was transferred in September... Which would be all fine and good. But I didn't collect and sign the paperwork until I got back from a trip. Even though I transferred the money before to a friend.

AND my documents who "owned the car since 2013" so how I was meant to check the policy was correct when they didn't think it was important enough to put the month on the documents is a bit odd.

I've spoken to them about complaining - I've pointed out the things Loon showed me and other stuff they have done wrong. Apparently someone is going to speak to me today as "we want to get this sorted today for you" even though at the start of the call "we won't be able to get the team to look at this until the end of the week".

As someone else has said - they are clearly used to dealing with students who will roll over and take this sort of rubbish. A complete try it on.

Everyone here complains people never update so...

I received a call saying they wanted to settle my claim and had sent me a check. I was told that if I wished to contest the amount I could, as this was an interim payment... But the letter that came through said differently. Luckily I recorded the call. I have banked the check - but am taking it further.

Was told that someone would call me back the next day about my complaint. No one did. So I'm on the phone to them now. Apparently it's an "oversight".

The difference in the value I think my car is worth and the final value is only about £150. But I'm going to be complaining out of principle now. I think the have messed up enough that I'm due compensation. A dirty word on here, but I'm quite convinced I'll get it.

My complaint comprised of the lies they have told. The time they have taken to deal with it. The attempted deception (recorded) to say an engineer has valued my car at 1500 quid less than the amount eventually sent to me. Which in the same call was apparently what the engineer has valued it at. The statements which contradict what the FOS says.

I did quote the document Loon referenced me too. But was told "that's not X* policy".

They have now told me I'll have a final decision within 8 weeks, but they aim for 3. Either way I'll be taking it to the FOS as there is nothing for me to lose. I suspect they will say they have done nothing wrong. But it will be nice for an impartial pair of eyes to look over it.

So all this is moot anyway as your test pass in 2012 covers the 3+ years criteria of your current insurers? If so happy days.

I don't drink cocktails, wouldn't be seen dead in a Slug & Lettuce, don't vape or smoke anymore and my bike has no pillion seat and isn't insured for pillions. Other than that we're all good hehe
