Using more words than are necessary. It is similar to tautology and there is some overlap. At this moment in time.

I was hoping for an argument about which it was.
Sorry, I was being sarcastic both times. Another true fact.

Well:

a/ you can't have an argument unless you have paid and...
b/ are you looking for an argument or just contradiction?

Glad all you legal boys are having fun. The bit that causes me concern is "If the goods do not last a reasonable length of time you may be entitled to some money back"
Who decides what is reasonable, say the aircon failed in a 4 year old car that had done 40,000 miles?

In the end it's a court if you and the retailer disagree, same as before. That said, there is a push towards Alternative Dispute Resolution - although the business is not obliged to use it in most situations. We'll have to see how it develops to change practices over time.

I am not a lawyer though, I got my law information from Al Murray down my local pub.

The BBC site here condenses the changes, and there's a link to the CAB and their advice on the changes, with Q&As.

As a starter, BIS have produced some very good guidance on the rights for goods, services and digital content - I expect will answer most queries that are not very complex.
