I need to renew my driving licence but the names don't match to my passport. In my teens I was known as Sue and that is shown on my Driving Licence. However my given name is Susan and the name I have used since the early 2000's is Susie.
I can't get through to DVLA on the telephone.
Any advice regarding getting. a new licence would be very much appreciated. Also what I should do if I get pulled over !

How canI rectify the problem?

Why not just send the renewal photo and not worry about what version of your first name is given? I'm called Sam. My birth certificate says Sam. According to the Army I was Samuel, and according to Halifax I am Samual. I just don't worry about it.

I did mine at the post office, they charge a few quid extra but it works out roughly what you pay for a photo booth photo anyway.

The charge P.O make includes them taking your picture, they also check the paper work and send it off.

It may be worth popping in and asking them (Not all P.O offer this service)

have you considered this could well be a factor in your long threat about your insurer investigating you and demanding a copy of your driving license on your other thread?

I think 'ging84' has a very good point there. I certainly don't want my insurance to be compromised in any way. I will speak to my main post office, who renewed my passport and hope to sort it out that way.

But the photo argh..... That will take more consideration ! (It's a Girl thing) ;-)

No. They requested a copy as they would in any case where the car was written off. I believe that's normal for all insurers.

I also do not think that an insurance company have access to my military records. They may see something on my credit file about my name. But as they already had a copy from when I took out my policy I don't think it's an issue.
