From looking at the broken white lines on the left hand side of the box (chevrons) in the middle of the road, it's fairly clear you did accelerate harder following leaving the lights. Although the Audi driver was a bit fierce, I don't think you left him a lot of options....

Someone will call your bluff on that sort of behaviour one day, either by forcing themselves into the gap you didn't quite leave them, possibly causing you to rear end them, or worse, they will stop their car and "have a word", probably not using their lips..
I left him space to merge I didn't duel it out with him once his nose comes past!

If you take your attitude you will never overtake or make any progress for fear of someone going faster than you and not liking you or it.

I am 6"3 and well built I don't get out unless I have to though, I am not looking for bare knuckle fighting.

I think you've missed the point. It's not a case of "duelling" with someone in a 2 ton car. I don't think that's likely to end particularly well. Pushing until he's almost level with you isn't the smartest thing to do, especially as you're aware that this is closing the gap in front fairly quickly.

My attitude is that if someone tries to close a gap I thought was reasonably likely to be there when I started the overtake then that is not on. Luckily most vehicles I use on the road could fill the gap you so generously left and get there a bit quicker than the rate at which you closed the gap, so no, I'm not too bothered.

You are inviting hostility from other drivers closing gaps deliberately in my opinion.

PS being 6'3" doesn't mean anything to someone who is wound up...

Yes, you are a grass. No one was injured or killed. Do you stick to 30mph in a 30 zone when there are no speed cameras around? I'd put money on the answer being no. Maybe we should expose and get YOU dealt with for putting your foot down when people overtake you..? You're just as likely to contribute to an accident that results in a death with a driving attitude like that.
Attitude like what? That's someone who goes on overtakes prior to an island into the path of oncoming's is ok as no one dies.

I have been over and over the allegation of me accelerating and deny it you can't prove it anymore than I can proved a didn't.

Fact remains audi had plenty of room to merge and chose to drive like a nutter.

I find it laughable that I could block him!

Just chiming in to add my weight to the calm, reasonable minded posters who don't think the OP did much wrong at all.

The fact that you're in a 1.8 zafira is pretty good evidence that this supposed "booting it" can only exist in the minds of certain posters.

fk sake I am driving @ speed minding my own business he comes into the situation like the toyko bullet train. Yes I agree had he bin on my tail and I move over the sensible thing to do is ease off and allow him save room to merge otherwise you are creating a dangerous situation but he wasn't l2 when I decided to move over.

Unless the lines on the left of the hatched area are getting progressively shorter and shorter, I'd suggest you were accelerating? scratchchin

knowing he is overtaking, then if you don't leave him enough space to the car in front of you, then de facto, you've blocked him. Not too hard a concept, or is it?

I know doing 40mph and booting in a zafira 1.8 is not going block a determined sq5 test pilot. I think those posters like to think were they in the audi they would be doing the same as they audi driver and wouldn't want a family busy getting in their way.

Please don compare me to audi driver I was not driving dangerously.

When will you upload your speed perfect driving for critic?
Would you normally drive at 50% over the speed limit and close so quickly on the car in front for no reason?

Do you normally sit on the clutch and go the instant the lights turn amber?

Is it just a huge coincidence that your enthusiastic/aggressive driving found itself in the middle of someone else's aggressive/dangerous driving?

I'll never upload my driving to the internet. My entire issue with dashcam drivers is they are all so eager to lambast everyone else for their driving, but they choose to ignore their own bad driving. They also have a habit of editing videos to suit, missing out parts that were actually very relevant.

There has been quite a few people who have put videos up here shaming other drivers. It then turns out that after a little look at their videos, they are every bit as bad.

Owners of dashcams keep telling people they've got them for protecting themselves. The majority that post to the internet clearly have other motives.

...and so I was on a loser from the start with you as you detest dash cam owners and think they are all loons out driving like loons looking to get someone else into trouble.

Oh well at least you showed your true colours and bias in the end.

I don't think it is bias. All through this thread you have only positively discussed with those that support your point of view.

If you do 46 in a 30 into a rapidly reducing gap, you might be perceived as an aggressive driver.

I don't think anyone has disagreed that the Audi was appalling...

The key difference is defensive driving vs aggressive driving. You were both aggressive, clearly he was WAY more aggressive, but you need to improve as well, as evidenced by your own dashcam.

I drove at speed yes and accelerated hard, accepted and that can be improved upon.

But I wasn't offside like a nutter and didn't try and block the audi overtaking for 10th time.

Don't have an issue with you could of gone slower that is an improvement you could make comments as they are valid.

Something appears to be wrong that I can't quote at the moment, so I've had to copy.

What true colours?

What bias are you making up?

I don't know you, I don't know the Audi driver. I've given my honest and fair opinion of what I see.

Where have I said I detest all dashcam users?

You've just completely made all that up and completely twisted it into something I haven't said at all.

Where have I said I detest all dashcam users?
Basically if someone put up dashcam footage rather than focus on the loon doing an overtake into the path of oncoming and nearly hitting the island I will focus on the cam cars driving using my spare time and will dissect the footage and work out if they are speeding or if they have a light bulb out or low tyre pressures because I dislike dash cam owners as I think they clearly have other motives other than protecting themselves.

Ok 'quite a few' and 'every bit as bad'

Not sure you meant to but your post reads to me>

You are as bad as the audi doing XXmph into the path of oncoming and just cutting in front of(I didn't bother to determine the audi's speed as it was superfluous to my anti dash cam user argument) is no worse than the op/dash cam driving as he is doing 46.9999mph (I spent much time working this cars speed out as it suited my argument) in 30.

I've said the Audi driver is an idiot. Do you want me to track him down and tell him that? What else do you expect me to do?

You've posted the video on the internet for discussion, you're here to discuss it with. You are the one oblivious/pretending not to see your part in the incident and stirring an argument.

Light bulbs tyre pressures? What are you on about?

I'm commenting on the incident, you're making up all sorts of nonsense that hasn't been remotely said or done.

It wasn't me who analysed your video to calculate the speed and acceleration points.

Smokescreen and excuses.

Maybe it's just the way I was brought up, but I would never post video footage of someone driving fast, doing something silly, etc. unless someone was injured at the time as a result or something was damaged, let alone waste my own time handing it in to the police for my own self-satisfaction.

You are clearly not a speed limit driver youself and have already said you were not driving dangerously. Guess what? In the eyes of the Police, driving at over 40mph in a 30 is breaking the law whether you think it is or not.

If I were following behind you and had a dashcam on doing 30mph and had footage of you accelerating away from me, I could go to the police, hand it in and you might get a visit or worse prosecuted. How would that make you feel..?

But guess what, were not all part of the "I'm a part time CCTV" brigade and have better things to do with our lives. This is Pistonheads, not mumsnet. By all means use the footage as a discussion point, but don't be a tit and grass someone up for no reason.

If you don't recognise that people who drive like that tosser in the Audi shouldn't be on the road, you're part of the problem.

Maybe you just have no idea what 2 tonnes at 60 mph does when it hits things.

And WTF is 'Speedhunters'?

Is the Pistonheads Forum white-labelled for other forums?? It would explain a hell of a lot about why this place has gone downhill.

You've had to tone down the hypothetical crime to make your argument sound reasonable though. The police probably get all kinds of rubbish handed in to them which they don't action, and the occasional bit of dangerous idiocy which (I'd hope) they do. I say let people hand in whatever they feel is necessary and let the police use their discretion about what to follow up.

You are a tit, but admittedly the Audi is a bigger tit
2 more psychics. Pistonheads, mindreading matters.
