It's a golf mk5
A whole rear bumper costs £50.
Probably needs just putting back in

If he pays then fine, if not then report him to the police. Ignore your own insurance.

With that kind of neighbourhood I would take some of his money, bite the bullet for the rest and move on with your life. You can't choose your neighbours and they can make your life and your family miserable... I'd it's minor I wouldn't bother with the aggravation... it is wrong and it's your loss but puck your battles. By the sounds of it I would be more interested in moving to a nicer neighbourhood if possible... for all reasons
This 100%.

All those who can't understand why you would consider not reporting him should consider themselves lucky to have not lived in an area as st as the OP appears to be stuck in. Hopefully it will be temporary for him.

To state the obvious, reporting him would, with little doubt label the OP as the neighbourhood grass and that is almost as bad as being a kiddie fiddler in some areas, it would also be doubtful that it would stop him driving. Even if his car was seized, it's only a matter of time until he gets another one and the cycle continues.

another option is to say to him not to worry, dont pay anything - if you are concerned about repercussions. low cost anyway and perhaps little chance of him paying.

echo the view about trying to move on to a better location.
report him in a few months time.
