The truth is,that there will be 4 or 5 squad cars at a reasonably minor RTA!
Could you point me I the direction of this minor RTC with 5 squad cars. I really could do with the staff.

I've got half a dozen cars to patrol 500 miles of m/way, plus all the A roads. We're due for the chop soon as well.
I think that PH's, as a community, should start to video it when it happens, and,it happens all the time!

If it's an incident where there can put the "blues and twos" on, they all want to get there! Shirley we are all aware of this!

But, if you've had your garage doors vanalised, but you're not able to tell them who's done it... you ain't getting a visit, and you're told so on the phone!

Oh absolutely, the quality of the incidents the police receive they can't want to respond to them. First there gets to take statements!

Police haters out in force last night.

I dont know how you can criticize the police when we are not hearing the full version of events.

Theres always 2 or more sides to a story. How are we to know if OP didnt deliberately leave his bike unchained with key in ignition minus helmet thereby entrapping the aspiring footballer type local youths into 'taking' it.

Or maybe officers were thin on the ground in the area as they had all been assigned to guard the patch of grass outside Parliament Square from being infiltrated by protesters.

Policing is an extremely dangerous job and you should be more understanding when the police dont want to expose themselves or culprits to any more danger for a trivial matter of public nuisance.

Yes if the OP choses to be law abiding thats up to him also remember the police are no longer a force but a division of social services !!!

How to brighten a person's day. Bring in a little fantasy.

I've been retired for 10 years and we didn't respond to minor road accidents, unless someone was injured, for some 10 years before that.

Even if they did respond (road blocked etc) . how dare single crewed officers expec some cover to create a safe area to deal with the bump in.... the cheek of it.

So it's hell here, as I type I'm just back from work after another 70 hour week and I don't think I'm going to sleep, again!

The local chavs seem to have acquired a quad bike and are currently doughnuting it on the green next to my flat, they didn't stop doing the same till gone 1am last night. It's a change as normally it's a stolen motorbike or 3, mine was nicked a few months back...

Thing is I even had a PCSO here yesterday, giving me FOC smartwater, they were doing it outside then, on the grass! she looks and just said "I'd not want to live here..." No calling anybody, nothing, just accepting of it. If I call it in nothing seems to get done either...

The thing is the one out there now has no number plates, likely not insured, likely nicked and they just seem to accept it, saying that the chav's don't care and just goad them so they in effect leave them to it! If I was acting like that I'd be nicked on the spot, too easy....

Thankfully I've sold and will be out in a few weeks, think I've just broken myself and need a vent...is there any way to get them to actually take some action?
Google neighbourhood policing for your area and contact them. Explain that the useless PCSO wasnt intersted and ask them to do something.

Dont expect them to chase them as its generally not allowed due to little cherubs killing themselves escaping.

Also speak to the council about it.

Then ask you MP what he or she are doing about Police cuts.

True, did but it was all that I could afford at the time. Thing is I lived with the parents about 1/2 mile away (off knoll rise if you know it) and visited daily for weeks at various times without anything untoward, that and all my other research saying that the other side of the railway/bypass was far worse.

Needless to say the new place is the opposite, nicer area, worst place in best area (currently opposite), it's even a private unmade road!

Can't wait to get some sleep finally!
As soon as you mentioned a kids play area and a football pitch I knew exactly where you were talking about. I didn't need the postcode as I know the area very well having been a resident in the Knoll ward for over 30 years. I'm quite surprised that having lived with your parents that you were unaware of what moving to a BR5 postcode would entail. ASB issues are a not exactly a big secret and a fact of life unless you are fortunate enough to live west of the A208.

It only requires a small number of problem families for an area to deteriorate. I have seen many peaks and troughs over the years but one things stands out. The biggest peaks coincide with times of economic downturn. The cuts to policing and the government's unwillingness to relieve them from having to deal with de facto social care issues (e.g. the mentally ill) means that it will only get worse. Mini-motos/quad bikes have always been difficult to deal with because you have to catch the scrotes. They often know the ground better than those pursuing them. Police patrol vehicles are not designed for off roading.

O/T - do you remember the 2003 Honda CR-V advert? smile

Don't be facetious. We all know a single crewed officer is perfectly capable of blocking off the road (both sides) dealing with the various injuries, recording accounts, completing RTC cards, and stopping the waring parties from knocking each other's heads off.

And as for Eclassless...what did you really expect?

Thanks all, felling a bit better today (silverstone probably helped!)

The green is a mess, been chatting to people and need to remind myself that it's just a few more weeks...

Thankfully the new place is far better, going to beckenham, between the junction station and shortlands on the quiet side, even on an unmade private road so no road noise either, no shops or parks either which is a result

Your caltrops are a bit st; they really need grooves or hollow tines to reliably deflate low ground pressure tyres and the angles are all over the place.

Nice, I lived in Beckenham for 8 years (on The Avenue & Albemarle Rd so probably quite close to where you are going). Good travel links and some nice restaurants etc. Don't leave your car parked on Albemarle Road on a Friday night though!

I know it's not much help but report it every time it happens.

When enough complaints are filed it starts to make their figures look bad, then they get round to doing something about it.

Friend of mine has just gone through this same process.

They got a neighbourhood watch together, reported everything and within a few months there was a PSCO tasked to the area.

The place is on the Avenue, although it needs a little work it'll be brilliant when done - 2 off-road spaces and a garage!
