Kent Police could take you to court, but at least it won't be on Facething.

They won't take your license away, either.

If they take anything, they will take your licence.

I hope this helps.

Frankly I think the op got off very lightly. There are too many fkwits on the roads, thinking 90mph in a restricted zone is acceptable.

On a ragged edge a few times there! biggrin

How much did that Porsche passing you help? You seem to start pushing harder when you were trying to keep up.

I was called an arse for saying the same thing, and it was insinuated that you are not a true PHer for saying speeding in a 90 mph is fing stupid whatever the excuse.

It is the mentally of 'not my fault' blame others culture of modern society. Like I said earlier I hope the OP learns something from this, but I doubt he will as people like this never change their ways.

Agreed, some very good driving, very few errors and way above my skill level. Liked the casual rear view mirror adjustment...

Very sanctimonious. The op fessed up & paid the price. We have (nearly) all done similar & usually got away with it.

Like most on PH I speed sometimes & if I get caught I get caught.

Having looked at the picture of the layby where the police pulled the OP over, but not knowing from which direction he was approaching at 90mph, can the OP confirm whether he was travelling at 90mph from the north towards the right-hand junction followed by the concealed left-hand junction or whether it was from the south towards the level crossing.

Just curious.

No, I've never driven at 90mph in a 30mph or similar zone. I very much doubt that many on here have.

I stand by what I said.

I think what you fail to grasp is that there is a big difference between a 30 zone in a built up area, perhaps a school nearby, parked cars, and kittens playing; and the road in question - long, straight, deserted in the middle of nowhere.
In the former, yes of course I have never approached that speed. In the latter, certainly.

Nobody has mentioned it, so I just thought I would, in case it helps anybody in the future.

You don't have to pay the fine "on the spot", if you can supply a French address for it to be invoiced to (they will check right there and then, because they don't like you getting out of giving them cash).

I haven't worked there for a while now, but it did used to explain this to you, in English, on the rear of the ticket. I've never had les flicks show it to me, but I have seen it on the rear of the few tickets I've had in days gone by.

It does work, I've used it on all but the first occasion I was caught.

I have had my licence taken by them on two occasions, it wasn't returned on either.

Just tell DVLA truthfully what has happened to it, and they "sell" you a replacement.

Very nice driving, are you quite familiar with the track? Seems like you know your way around there.

P.S. that Porsche flying by made me jump, shows you how quick those cars are.

Despite the appearance it's not really the "middle of nowhere", it's the hinterland between the port and the rest of France. I've made the trip out of Dunkirk quite a few times this year and a couple of things I've noticed every time. Firstly there are always police cars/bikes that just seem to be hanging about these roads, doesn't seem to matter what time - anyone clocking 90 is a free gift for them. Secondly these roads are crap. Most of them seem to be just the bare minimum layer of tarmac slapped down on whatever was there and not really designed for any kind of speed. The whole area looks like it's been railway sidings or something, a line still runs through it, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of these roads are designed with a short life pending redevelopment.
