How odd. Re-reading the thread, he appears to have been nicked for exceeding the speed limit, not dangerous driving.

Did I miss something?

Well, I got a little talking to around this same area, which is a complete nightmare to navigate around, last night, although not going as fast as OP, got tailed by an unmarked van for the last few miles to port, probably doing about 40-50mph. Van came alongside me into one of the roundabouts, tow lanes, with chevron ghost island making it one on entry, but he did not pass, just sat alongside across the ghost Island, so I outbraked him into the roundabout, which maybe upset them! That was right on the port entrance, they followed me in and on came the blues.
Thankfully I speak some French and I apologised immediately for the outbraking, which I had done only because one of us needed to do something or we'd have crashed!
The officers stayed in their van and asked if i was in a hurry, I said, no, I had at least 20 mins, and he just said I was going too fast. I apologised and he told me to roule plus lentement!

This was for 8pm ferry, it is desolate to say the least around there, but I suspect they have cctv to spot speeding cars and send the vans out for a look!

Be warned continental PHers, they are out to try and get us!!
