No worries, if it doesn't it doesn't...we'll drag it out

There are small marks on the glass, given its a working commercial vehicle it's rather insignificant

I'm trying to say I'll try and drag out the process as long as possible, my argument from before, if your escaping to safety from being on private land for the immediate period of aggro surely you don't need insurance/or could argue the toss
Not if you drove the van there, which you did.

Not sure what you think you can drag out, but expect a much larger bill as a result.

Give the guy a break, it's not what he needs to hear right now even if you may be right.

OP I'm happy to contribute to a couple of (official) security guys to help you and your partner go back safely and pick up your stuff. The fact that in this country in this day and age you can't do so saddens me. If you can't afford to do so I will throw £50 towards it!

Pm me if you need to.

Scarcasm doesn't become you.

You've said your bit and made your point. I just think you're ramming it home a bit too much. The guy needs a break and to confront the main issue facing him not the secondary insured/not insured one.

Once he's out and clear from the old place then maybe he can concentrate back on the other surrounding aspects.

I've had st situations in my life and the way to not get overwhelmed by them is to deal with one incident at a time, most important first.

My opinion only of course.

And my opinion is that he's better to not leave himself wide open, as I posted earlier. I also posted that I'm not siding with the scrote.

What happened to him after he was arrested, charged, bailed etc?
I'd like to know this too, it was madness not to have him arrested for assaulting you with a metal bar the first time around.
I did want him arrested, although only after I removed possessions, seemed that backfired
Fair enough, you can still report the beating to the Police at a later date if you want to. Hopefully someone took some photos of your injuries, ie cuts, bruising etc...

Hope you manage to get the rest of your stuff without too much trouble and move on with things mate.

I'd be very worried about leaving the flat empty.

Sorry so you disclosed an assault with a weapon, provided a statement and they didn't arrest because you asked them not to...?

Seems a bit sus. If an offence like that is disclosed you think they'd take positive action. I certainly would have.

Sounds like a real stty position to be in OP. I have no advice to offer you but good luck.

The world is full of scumbags.

Is there anything left in the flat of any real value? Maybe employ a removal company to do it for you? There are loads of man and van type people around that could get your stuff out and you and your GF wouldn't have to set foot in the place.

This is easily sorted. Get Jeremy Corbyn to reason with your neighbour. He reckons he can fix anything this way...wobble

So someone attacks you with a metal pole several times injuring you, damages your properties, is under the influence of drugs and he is not arrested, charged and remanded? Makes no sense to me.

So if he came round the secomd time and knifed you, what would have been the explanation for him being out in the streets. Not that this hasnt been allowed to happen before.

I think I need to really really lower my expectations of what I expect to happen to wrongdoers in society.

Thanks for the help all, sorry think I fell asleep a bit early last night.....just back in work now

When he hit me with the pole there was the option to arrest, police we willing to do so, however, I (naively) thought this may cause further (worse) issues - police on the whole have been brilliant.

Not much is left in the flat now, remaining valuables have been removed by my GF's father whilst he was at the station, its just some last bits and bobs that I'm not too sure are to remain or not and our road bikes...(3)

My first thought too. Not much chance he will be out of bed between 6-8:00am...

Yep, he would have been in custody there and then.

Horrible situation - but please do discuss this with your solicitor and think about the situation you may be putting the new owners in. I'm fairly certain you need to make them aware (but I'm not an expert hence talk to your solicitor) and if I'm right and it proceeds then they could sue you for damages.

There was a case brought a few years ago that sounds almost exactly the same as yours - they were suing for 100k but I couldn't find how it ended.
