My fault entirely. Saw the truvelo, checked I wasn't hurtling along at more than 30. Travelled a bit further down the wide grass verged road and spotted the 20mph sign.
Thought 20mph zones weren't policed as such.

Anyway, got a NIP from Beds Plod.

Am I likely to get a speed awareness course or 3 points on my clean licence. Not been on a course before, so clearly that's why I missed the 20mph signs..

IIRC, Speed Awareness Courses for 20mph limit indiscretions is something they started rolling out across the country a couple of years ago (NSAC20).

Whilst the 27mph alleged is within the qualifying range for such a course, your chance of an invite will be zero if Bedfordshire hasn't yet adopted the scheme.

You could perhaps give AA Drivetech a call in the morning and ask them directly - 0845 345 9623.

I got a 30 in a 20 and they wouldn't entertain an awareness course. Got the 3 points.

20mph zones are a joke, what really fks me off is they're usually used in conjunction with speed bumps, lots of bollards, the stupid kerbs that stick out that push you onto the other side of the road. Basically everything to distract you.

I'll give them a call and report back.

Here's the streetview.. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.8854866,-0.53807...

Serious danger here. Of being overtaken by cyclists.

They always put them where the limit is pretty much ignored as its clearly not suited to that bit of road...

If the streetview is up to date, that is a 20 limit, not a zone. There don't seem to be many repeaters though.

Why is it even 20? Decent road, flat and straight as far as the eye can see with houses set back from the road and good wide grass verges and footpaths. No reason for that to be 20 at all, 30 would be perfectly fine with enforcement by the Truvelo if they insist.

Guess street view is out of date? Can't see any 20 repeaters, and when I did theory test, no signposts and street lights = 30...

To balance it out, there's a rather well-kept looking classic car parked right there, too..

Beast! Like how the beast's companion has fallen of the fence.

OP,

http://www.20splentyforus.org.uk/UsefulReports/Dft...

Implies repeaters are needed.

Not sure 1 solitary repeater on the whole bit I could be bothered to look at classes as sufficient repeaters. (if you;re fighting it, obviously)

Pretty poor signage really.

How far back does the zone start?

It goes back to the main road, probably 3/4 mile in the opposite direction to the camera. There were a few repeaters, but there you go. Live and learn. Ridiculous really, these 20mph limits. Nobody keeps to 20mph. All brought in to win a few votes here and there.

If the limit is lower than reasonable, you're more likely to see a revenue gathering exercise.
