Is that directed at me or cv man? I'm assuming it's him? I think I'd cause the Internet to break over there if I turned up touting the virtues of speed and sensible fast driving! Hehe
Sorry for the confusion. Yes the suggestion was directed at cv man. paperbag

Just locally, cops seem to have a fascination for my cars.
Have you considered moving?
Have you considered moving websites? This looks right up your street - http://www.20splenty.org

Seriously this is a MOTORING forum. Most of us like cars and in particular high performance cars.
I've come to expect replies which shoot the messenger because of an inability to actually read the post being replied to, but you do take the biscuit...

Not only did the post you replied to not even mention 20mph limits, but I'd love you to say where I've expressed any opinion on their wisdom or whether any particular zone is appropriate or not. I merely suggested - in a different post to the one you replied to - that his inability to drive his very fast car at a legal speed in a 20mph zone is not going to carry much weight at getting that 20mph lifted.

Honestly, I think even 20mph zones might see things happening a bit too quickly for your ability to mentally react. Even bringing the red flag act back will see you struggle.

I think a lot of these are sus stops to check for drunk driving.

When you turn out to be sober they feel the need to make an excuse for the stop so as not to look silly. I had a weird stop like this at New Years a few years ago, no way he could claim speeding since I noticed him pull out behind me at the station and follow me through the busy town centre. He then pulled me immediately we hit the A63. The justification was my tyres looked white, they had road salt residue like everybody else. When he took a close-up look could see they were nearly new.

I still needed to blow in the bag, licence, insurance and MOT checked via Radio and all green. He did miss the fact my photo card was expired.

Personally I think they should just fess up and say random DUI stop instead of making excuses.

I agree that they make it up as they go along mate, in my case though, I'm rarely asked to blow into the bag/machine (a few times, but barely 10% of stops), for me I think sometimes it's just to see the car, sometimes it's just because they are on shift on the wrong day (xmas, new year, kids birthday) and want to take it out on someone, and other times they want to try it on. I'm just glad I've always been able to drive away with a clean licence, and normally a grin on my face, even if they haven't!

Yea, thick as st me. That's why I managed to establish and sell a company and retired on the proceeds. I also managed to buy and run 3 Ferrari's.

Not too bad for a thicky. wink

You spelt it correctly & it then spellchecked & autocorrected it incorrectly?

Pretty much. Like when I type crikey, and it resets to cricket, yet other times, you type coffe instead of coffee, yet it doesn't bloody notice!

That's interesting. I wasn't aware that Spellcheck would auto-correct a spelling that was already correct [viz. facetious], to an incorrect one [viz. facecious].

And, on the iPad's Qwerty keyboard the letters "c" and "t" are two key rows apart; because of that separation one wouldn't normally mis-type the letter c for the letter t.

And, the spelling of facetious with a second "c" instead of a "t" is a common spelling error.

All of which would seem to absolve Spellcheck from any responsibility on this occasion.

Do not accept a fixed penalty or speed awareness course. Plead not guilty. There is no evidence, it will be dropped.

Whether arguing about the spelling, writing the word in the first place, or commenting on the argument - you realise you're here as well right?

Any credibility you might have had went straight out the window when I read this.

Bad spelling might be forgiven- talking bks won't.
