If a public transport system - a light railway say - with CCTV, it's own team of inspectors and a dedicated police unit - spots people breaking the law. Loitering, drunk, begging Anti-social behaviour but fails to act, do they have a responsibility if someone is attacked?

A long winded question sorry.

I was attacked at a station recently. Police tell me that from CCTV operated by the rail system those responsible had been drinking/begging at the unstaffed station for an hour before the attack.

It was a quiet Thursday night. There is a dedicated police unit they could have told. They have inspectors who tour the system. They also have a loudspeaker system which they can use to warn people to move on.

None of these facilities were used.

This is a live monitored system. They called the police when the attack started.

I'm not really after "compo" more just investigating any duty of care they were lacking.

The case against my attackers is proceeding through the courts. It's kind of fked me up in the head to be honest.

The CCTV operator seems to have acted quickly, which resulted in the offenders being arrested. I think that's a better result than would be expected at many other stations tbh.

They can't call the police for every drunk/beggar as it's far too commonplace these days (unfortunately).
