Perhaps, but we can't really push others over the wall, all we can really do is provide the ladder ... wink

I've just accepted that I shouldn't ever be surprised at the stupidity of the human race. There are so many retards out there incapable of the simplest things it's amazing that they can get themselves dressed.

Not that I look down on others or anything....
fek im reading this in my pants....better get dressed.....thanks for the reminder.... wink
I assume you're on your phone, but I'm damned if I can see why you put it in your underpants.

Has anyone here, or someone they know, had a ticket from an average speed setup?
Yep. Not the ones on a dual carriageway up on the yellow masts - they're pretty obvious, but on my pool night on a Thursday, there's a road from the edge of our city into a village, where they did have a camera sign, but I'd never seen a yellow camera on a pole, so thought nothing of it. When I got the NIP for doing 42 in a 30 I found out that was my average speed, and these cameras were in front of trees and all blended in - I'd never even seen one!

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. All these trips were at night as well.

Points and £100.

Maybe a ladder has many rungs? wink

The irony here being that if we are reliant on ladders made by your good self they'll have two rungs (which agree with your conclusion) and be missing the other 38 needed (which contradict your conclusion).

Still, they'll be fantastic examples of policy based evidence making I have no doubt.

I think one of the worst things about average speed cameras are the difficulties it causes when you try to pull on from a slip road, but the people who appear to actually have the brains to work out what average means are driving on the inside lane at the limit......

Correct. But the problem is with average cams you can't accelerate to get into a gap...... Rather dangerous really.

Yes, except what you have with the average speed cameras is those in the inside lane driving almost bumper to bumper, and unable to move over because of the traffic next to them in L2 - which is also moving bumper to bumper at the limit

Why can't you accelerate to get into a gap?

Are they? Bumper to bumper?

It's not a problem I've ever experienced. Normally when a slip road joins I find that people in the inside lane make space. But then where I live people are generally quite civillised, unlike some places.

Not leaving a decent gap from the vehicle in front is nothing to do with speed limits, cameras or anything else apart from crap driving.

Why can't you accelerate to get into a gap?
Because you will then exceed the average speed and get points.

And you can't then drive below the limit to reduce your average because you get lorries RIGHT up your chuff....

the amount of people I see going on the A127 towards Southend (average scameras for 50 limit) from the A130 interchange onwards breaking for the average speed cameras is staggering.... or actually more often than not not even creaking just going through at (what appears to be) more than 70

It's funny then that I really only see very much of that kind of crap driving where there are average speed cameras

So what? More people leave the road on a bend than on a straight. That's not the bend's fault, it's the fault of tts unable to adapt to differing conditions.
