Son has paid fine, it was never about not paying, just trying to establish if the council had met the basic requirements for enforcing the law

However love the idea of a damage claim biglaugh

Absolutely. Make them pay up, how many times have you genuinely damaged a wheel on their potholes, justice is a dish best served with a wallet bashing

Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a related question.

Single yellow line on a side road in Birmingham, but no signage at all regarding restrictions. Can I park or not?
Probably in the CPZ - http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/cpz
Watch out if yo end up in the cpz. Shunt, Seargeant Bash and Matilda take no prisoners...

Off topic, but why the relative silence on posting for 101 months and the sudden forum interest?

Genuinely curious - as the forums seemed to be dying off a bit with the more long standing members.

There must be a void for posting bad advice.

Advising someone to claim for fictional damage, when proof of the damage will be fundamental to the claim. What should the OP do? Damage their car so they can pay for it to be repaired and claim it was done on a road / pothole?

Just bored, and figured I'd join in the fun. Joined years ago on recommendation of a friend, never really bothered but the other day PH was brought up as somewhere petrolheads met up. Boy were they wrong, mention you enjoy driving quick and everyone gets bent out of shape

La liga is such a fun chap, can see why people don't want to talk to him! Thinks he's some kind of guru. smile

Come on, tell us about how 1 in 3 journeys you successfully claim from the Local Authority. Or the time you challenged someone repairing a road who wasn't holding a shovel correctly and his supervisor came out.

I've never bothered myself, but I've certainly heard of a few who have.

How about you, got anything interesting anyone would like to hear about?

No?

Thought not

Hahahahahaha

You really have a problem with me for some reason, don't you? Brits are always jealous of successful people I suppose, figures

Actually, since your little band of followers is so keen to try to make out I'm some kind of 'troll', looking at the TOS of most forums, someone who follows others around, posting drivel about them in each thread trying to get a rise, embarrass or harass them, is generally called trolling. All I have ever done is make comment, as encouraged in a forum of different minds. I've not enforced my opinions on you or anyone else, and only ever replied to those directly engaging with me.

However, It's exactly what you seem to have done here, followed me and cast aspersions, maybe you need to take a good look at yourself and how you interact with people socially. Maybe you could learn that other people are important too, and are entitled to have opinions other than yours, experiences different to yours, and skills and abilities you may never possess.

Don't be bitter, go and have some fun, collect some more stamps/spot some trains/watch some of our feathered friends, anything you like to take the edge off

In the meantime, I'll continue to have a read, talk to people, maybe have a giggle, and if you don't like what I say, feel free to have a different opinion, but don't expect me to care how you think about me

By interesting you mean probably made-up. I don't have any issue with you. I take issue with duff legal advice and those who think they know lots more about legal issues (as covered in this forum) than they actually do. I can understand how you wouldn't see that as the cause, and would default to assuming I'm jealous of your car as the motive for 'calling you out'. I expect you rationalise any conflict you have with people as them 'being jealous of your success'. It's easier than self-reflection.

You assume you people define "success" in the same way. For example, you may consider success as acquiring enough money to buy an expensive car. That's fine, I'm glad you've made a success of yourself in this way.

I may consider success in wholly reviewing, changing and improving the strategy to improve the response to and treatment of domestic violence. The changes which have sustained a reductions in murders of (mainly) women across several years so far.

You grow old with the memories of enjoying a super car. I grow old enjoying the memories I reduced the amount of people being murdered.

And yet you chase me around threads despite your 'higher calling'. Tosh

You may not like it, but my rudimentary skills dealing with plod has kept my licence clean for years despite their best efforts, so while I've never held myself up as a lawyer, I have a pretty good success rate. In my industry, seeing the standard of a lot of solicitors I come across falling drastically (to the point of actually correcting their substandard work on occasion), I'm pretty sure a few of them would love to have me talking on their behalf in some situations.

You take a forum too seriously if you think I'm here taking much seriously...... It's the Internet, I'm here for entertainment only.

I applaud you for your work on domestic violence, having come across both men and women in my time who have lived through horrible situations like that, and where the cops are powerless to do much on many occasions. In that time, I have provided many with rented 'safe properties' when required too, since one other string to my bow is that of a landlord.

I have been known to help out people in a slightly more 'hands on' way to you, but rest assured, I too will be able to look back with pride and contentment at making a big difference to a number of people also, but as you can imagine, in a much more 'blue collar' manner than yourself.

You see my posts as some form of bravado, but I can't help how you see it, I'm not concerned how you or anyone else thinks of me in this nameless, faceless internet world. What does matter is how people in the real world interact with you, and you with them

Ta. Its just in the outer zone, so you can park in pay and display bays. I assume you cant park on a single yellow? Surely if that's the case they should be double yellow as that would take away any confusion
Single yellow means you can park at some times, not others - but the problem is that is shown on the CPZ sign when you enter the zone. I parked on a single yellow on Waterloo Street one Sunday about 10 years ago, got a ticket and appealed because I'd found a way into the CPZ which didn't pass any CPZ signs. They might be a bit more thorough now with the signage.

Good luck!
Yep you need to check this out. For years Birmingham have been told repeatedly that their CPZ signage is outwith the regulations. Tbh I avoid the place as much as possible these days so can't advise on the up to date scenario, but not do many years back it was very easy to find routes into the various CPZ that were not signed correctly.

If it's the same then your appeal to the council will be rejected and they will fold when you go to the independent adjudicator. Good luck.

Depends on your point of view, as in life, some hate, some don't. The trick is to not care less

Fair enough. Welcome to the "fun" though the moderation is fairly draconian...

For crying out loud.

Take away yellow lines (and how the flying fk are they "clutter" anyway? It's just paint on the road) that everyone knows exactly what they mean - even if they choose to ignore them - and where they apply.

Replace with a another bunch of signs (which are "clutter" in my book), hard to spot, often vandalised/turned around/missing and not clear as to they extent they apply...

...I think we have recipe for increased income rather than attractive streets mad
