You may wish to edit out the company's name from point 3 to avoid name & shame rules.
oops. Done.
Love the way you have replaced it with one which is nearly identical to another, dissolved, company. laugh

I believe there's something called moneyclaimonline to recover your 99 if not willingly repaid.
There certainly is, in fact someone mentioned it 5 posts ago...
smile Oh yes, sorry missed that.

For anyone who cares - we had no further communication from the dark window lords, but the £99 deposit was returned to our account.

We are assuming (well, hoping really) this is an end to the affair.

OP

I suspect that you have passed the test of "This one is not going to go quietly and so let's leave it there".

Regardless of the legalities of many things so many people will pay up without fighting, especially if they are on a tight budget, when faced with potential court proceedings. Or at least decent people who don't get involved in that sort of squit often.

Regardless though I would advise you to keep every scrap of paper, and a print out of this thread, in a safe place for the next 4 years before you file it in the shredder. I doubt you will be hearing from them again about this, especially as they have returned your £99, but it would not be the first time i have seen less than reputable companies wait a year or so before resurrecting things that people had thought long gone and have destroyed all their papers relating to...

Good advice, thanks. I have copies of all the documentation, but saving this thread and the one from the other forum is probably a good idea too.

I think if this does go away then I have been lucky. This was posted three days ago in the forum I linked earlier:

I thought I'd reply as a final point on here.
Went to court in Nov, as I believed the salesman told me I had 14 days contract cancellation. After a whole day in court, the judge ruled that it was more likely the 'experienced' salesman was right, and we were confused and we actually only had 7 days to cancel. In the end it cost us £15k for cancelling the contract after 10 days, which was beyond the 7 days in the contract. They didn't even measure up. Gutted.

I know I know. I got a 15 minute lecture from my Dad on the weekend, I thought I had gone back in time twenty five years and was a teenager again.

This, OP.

Often the main company won't be bothered with stuff like this, as they have a business to run.

However, every now and again, companies sometimes shift a list of 'debts' to a debt collector on a commission basis, who use your contact details either phone or write to you requesting X plus their fee.

So, keep all your stuff. It'll save you time and hassle later, as you can email the evidence with a 'get lost' response.

What a scummy company. They should be exposed on Watchdog or similar and shamed into improving their tactics and policies.

Face book would be a good start to.

Good job my old Anglia never needed new Windows.
