No, I haven't been caught speeding (yet wink ).

Sorry about the fly-speckled Google image, but as you come up the road here, heading away from town:

https://goo.gl/maps/udh3e4FSw9F2

there are new 20mph signs both sides of the road on bright new yellow square signs, and "20" is painted on the road in a circle. A little way further on, attached to the school patrol sign (on the pole further from the road) on the nearside only, are two small "20" repeater signs, facing one each direction.

Which is all fine, there are two schools opposite each other just past there, 20 is an appropriate limit (at school times, but hey ho).

BUT
the 20 limit never ends. The next sign for speed heading out to the Mway is well past the next major set of lights and is the little one under/with the speed camera sign - 30 - and then eventually a proper 40 at the Mway junction roundabout.

Coming into town, you might be lucky and catch a glimpse of the 20 repeater now a long way off your offside, but otherwise it's just a surprise set of proper "30" signs on the back of the "20"s. But I'm already in a 30....

It was the "30"s that set me off the first day they appeared, I thought I'd missed coming into a new 20 zone on the way in, but after looking very carefully for several days, definitely not my eyes!
It's been about 3 weeks now since the signs and paint appeared, so I think it's long past them getting around to the other end of the zone in a day or two.

I always have and always will continue to drive carefully past the schools (while tutting at the parents parking on the "school keep clear" and pelican crossing zigzags, while others drag their sprogs across the traffic rather than walk 5 metres to the pelican and wait 32 seconds....) but what speed would be legal to do here? Does direction of travel matter? When does the 20 "end"? Is any of it legal at all?

The road doesn't cross a county border by any chance? There is a semi-rural road I use and for a few months it was 40mph going out from Bromley to Kent and NSL from Kent to Bromley until Kent finally changed the signs to 40mph.

Nope, it's just a minor radial road heading out of Swansea, very much all inside the city at this point.

Signage is not the Council's strong point here! There appears to be plate showing times of parking restriction against the Double Yellow Lines!
