After being captured by the Hadecs at Epping on the M25 for doing 65 while the variable limit was at 50 due to animals in road ( Guffaw!) it looks like a day in court is on the way.

Ban a certain ? All points gained in the last 14 months...

Any experience greatly appreciated.

It costs me a fortune to insure her now, as she has a propensity to flood car engines in the nearby ford biggrin:

A short ban will give you time to sharpen your eyesight and maybe make you pay more attention.

I've seen a lot of those "animals in road" signs over the years but, never actually seen an offending animal!

Makes you wonder.

Indeed, I had clear vision for at least a mile...not even a Sparrow.

I'd advise thinking about an exceptional hardship argument (focusing on exceptional hardship to your dependants, not yourself). If you post it up on Fightback Forums you should get some good advice, sadly on here you'll mostly get sanctimonious dheads saying "don't speed" or "take it like a man" or some similar crap.

i was at the back of a court once & watched four people go through all reaching 12 points. Of the four only one received a ban of six months the rest were allowed to carry on driving on 12 points.

6 month ban unless you can form an exceptional hardship argument.

Thanks, had a look over there , I'm not fussed with the take it like a man squad, it's the Internet after all.

Doing nearly 70k a year, it's a hazard of the occupation, but the explosion of revenue raisers everywhere is a pain.

I actually had to stand on the anchors in SE5 the other day after realising it was a 20mph zone, with the inevitable camera to enforce.

He had a point though. If I was on 9 points I wouldn't be doing 65 in a 50, animals or not. Especially if my livelihood depended on my licence.

I got to 6 points in the mid 90s so I stopped speeding, completely. For 18 months until they were over 3 yrs old. It really wasn't hard.

But what's the point in saying that? It does nobody any good whatsoever. He's done it now, I'm sure he's bright enough to know he should have paid a bit more attention, now he's just looking to make the best of a bad situation.

It's a fair point though.

With a decent exceptional hardship statement he'll probably escape a ban, but it's no good if he keeps driving the same way without regard for the whole points system? Bear in mind also you can't use the same argument a second time around...

No one likes cameras, but on 9 points and doing 70k miles a year for work I'd grit my teeth and slow down. 65 in a 50 isn't exactly wandering over the limit, it's careless when you're one camera away from a ban.

Regardless, good luck in court OP.

I'd be getting your legal person to argue that the ban will affect your ability to carry out your work and probably end up putting your employees on the dole , no idea if it will work mind but it has to be worth a shot ?
Otherwise you could do a forward contract deal with a local taxi firm and not worry about drink driving for a while !

biggrin

Forward contract deal for 35 k if a 6 month ban, ouch !

I don't dispute the should of slowed down/ kept your eyes open mob, they have a valid point, But if I wanted a preacher, I'd go to church.

Zombie mode on the M25 at 65 mph, on a perfectly clear road, st happens. Now, if I can reduce or swerve a ban, all well and good, maybe someone has experienced similar and could give a few pointers on their experience, hence the OP.

Last time I looked, this was a site for motoring enthusiasts, so think I'm in the right place, and really, genuine thanks to the positive replys.

Hi roofer. Enjoyed your great contributions of the other sub forums.

Can't recall you saying if you are a one man band or employer. just get lad on as an apprentice ( of sorts more trainee) and get him to drive for 6 months. It'll be what 7k? For a driver and a labourer?
