Indeed, I posted to see if anyone had experienced similar to get a feel for the outcome. As previously, Internet preachers abound everywhere, and yes, they are correct, yes they do have a point blah, blah, but I would be more interested if anyone had been in a similar situation.

Now, being a motoring site, where not a very one drives like a vicar you would assume, I thought it would of been a fair shot to ask.

And actually, I have been driving like a vicar, played the roulette on the M25 ( Not realising the Hadecs did average speed) and lost, tough st etc.

The last 2 tickets were when they changed traff cams to speed and traff cams, and the 1st was for doing 40 on a dual carriageway in Watford, proper dangerous me biggrin
Not been in your situation for a while... For me it was two lots of three and then a five which caused me to hit eleven!!! The five involved a court appearance but never got a ban and no doubt the system has changed hugely by now. Anyway used a lawyer and turned up smart etc. Not a nice place to be so drive like a vicar too...

All the best smile

Went through the Hadecs at Clackett Lane Services 6 weeks ago doing 75 in a 60 (thought I had already gone past the last camera heading east). Nothing in the post; it was a nervous 3-4 week just to make sure, but nothing has come of it.

If I already had 6 points on my licence, why would I risk another 6 by doing 90+ on the motorway. Can you not see the stupidity in that?
Indeed. 20+ mph over the limit and probably a few more indicated on the speedometer. If I had 6 points on my license i'd be setting my cruise control to 70 mph.
You're a wild one. I'd set mine to 65, just in case there was a fault with it!

The bad thing in my view is the personal consequences of being banned vary so much.

Some people would get the sack on losing their licence, for others it would be very major hassle. But for people who don't rely on their car to get them to work it really wouldn't matter that much.
Yes, but the consequences of a reat many things vary depending on individual circumstances. There isn't a great deal that can be done about that.

And.... That's why you

A) if not keen on representing yourself employee a solictor to spell out your personal circumstances so they are considered when choosing a punishment. Although my experience they are as usual as tits on a fish. Certainly my first time was no help at all and would of rather had a woman beater as a client.

B) if you are of reasonable intelligence and articulate represent yourself as I did and successfully proved exceptional hardship in my case.

My fridge filter should be changed every 6 months, but I only do it annually. Danger is my middle name.

After being captured by the Hadecs at Epping on the M25 for doing 65 while the variable limit was at 50 due to animals in road ( Guffaw!) it looks like a day in court is on the way.

Ban a certain ? All points gained in the last 14 months...

Any experience greatly appreciated.
Poor bugger. I got 6 months ban on a 12 point tot-up from N Wales magistrates in Mold. My exceptional hardship plea was weak and dismissed. Bright side is license cleared of points after 6 months. Speed cameras and revenue raising and local authority bureaucrats - bah! bd stupid system.

Oh, do get over yourself!
If it wasn't speed cameras, it would be something else.

A short ban will give you time to sharpen your eyesight and maybe make you pay more attention.
Thank you for your contribution, now off you fk, there's a good plank.
I've often wondered what drivers know when they drive past faster than me in a camera controlled bit of motorway. Now I know, nothing.

Yes it might be something else. Having lived in Switzerland where they are not so obliging as to paint their speed cameras a lurid yellow and also like to hide them in bins or other objects to disguise them, or put them in unmarked vans by the side of the road or in fact hide behind buildings or in trees so there is absolutely no way of seeing them. The system over here is a god send because it should be easy to avoid being caught - if you are paying attention and being sensible. I know it is a selfish position on my part but I'm happy other people are getting themselves caught under the current system as it probably stops them doing something effective about spending. From personal experience I can tell you that driving in a country where you know that you could actually be caught at almost any time, without having any chance to avoid it,
is horrid and soul destroying. Whilst living there I used to attend a PH Spring run where a group of PHers met up to drive the mountain passes when they were opened. People got so worried about being caught that it sort of petered out (I think they now go to the Black Forest in Germany).

Specsavers/regular prescriptions.

If people miss obvious question I question if speed + them (stressed/distracted) are right for each other.

On here people were complaining about the M6 recently. It's obvious to spot the vans etc but also- one officer was killed recently and one badly injured there. Increasingly I do think we need nannying on the roads. Sadly.

You think it's easy to spot the vans in time if it matters?

Forward contract deal for 35 k if a 6 month ban, ouch !

I don't dispute the should of slowed down/ kept your eyes open mob, they have a valid point, But if I wanted a preacher, I'd go to church.

Zombie mode on the M25 at 65 mph, on a perfectly clear road, st happens. Now, if I can reduce or swerve a ban, all well and good, maybe someone has experienced similar and could give a few pointers on their experience, hence the OP.

Last time I looked, this was a site for motoring enthusiasts, so think I'm in the right place, and really, genuine thanks to the positive replys.
A letter from your employer stating that it will effect your job should swerve a ban, - however, they'll up the fine to balance it out.

I know if it was me with 9 points in 14 months I'd have also done a speed awareness course in that time too...

I don't know anyone who's escaped a ban from toting up.

Yes - doing 3 figure speeds with a few points on the licence but not just 4 x 3 points.

Good luck smile

Was the last time you looked 2006? this place is less motoring enthusiast and more a slightly less amusing version of Mumsnet.

Good luck though smile
