I posted this in bike banter about a month ago but that was more just general do you agree with it or not.

Council have just sent me this photo which does not show the registration. I remember seeing the Countdown with Joe appealing the ticket and it didn't show enough they didn't enforce.

Surely without a registration they can't enforce this?

Maybe they've got another photo from the rear.

Is that the only picture they have? If so, it's nowhere near enough specific to identify it as a particular vehicle.

Maybe write back asking for additional photo's showing VRM as you can't be sure it's your vehicle?

What do you think they did before they had a camera?

What makes you think you were parked lawfully?

Bang to rights there. yes

Contest the dubious ones, the incorrect ones and the downright wrong ones. But pay the ones where you've been caught fair and square. Overall you'll still be quids in for all the previous and future times where you haven't been caught.

It won't be the only photo, that is just the photo proving the contravention, there should be at least another 2, one showing the PCN attached and one showing the rear VRM. (maybe even another one, the long shot showing the vehicle and contravention in relation to the location, ie showing a particular shop or building)

How did they get your address to send you the photo?

Rightly or wrongly, the bike wasn't in the way as is in little triangle off the road not causing any harm to anyone so don't see why there double yellow's, but that's by the by.

The women said that's the only photo they have. I was only there for about 2 minutes and the guy was writing a ticket so I just got on and rode off so don't think he had time to do everything.

It's taken about a month to get here as they sent the parking ticket to the registered keeper which is a lease company, in turn to my company, in turn to me.

So this is literally all I've got.

So you got served with a regulation 10 then? There are no other photos as you didn't give the CEO chance to take any, he saw you in contravention, started the obs and the ticket and you did a disappearing act, hence the PCN went through the procedure of having to get details from the DVLA, sending to registered keeper, etc etc.

Actually, just looked again at the photo and noticed the kerb markings, hence two minutes is two minutes too many, that's an instant ticket.

ianal, but I'd not fancy my chances of arguing that in court.

Are you telling us that this isn't a picture of your bike and you were nowhere near the location at the time indicated and it's all a big mistake by them? If that is what you're saying, will you be prepared to use the same story in court?

This...i've had a few parking tickets in my time, and none had a photo of the car, let alone the number plate.

I obviously wouldn't let it go that far as I'm almost certain that may have been me.

But surely there's no harm in emailing an informal appeal to say something along the lines of that doesn't show that is my bike and I cannot recall being parked there. If they turn around and say don't care, pay up, I will.

Simply asking if anyone might know if they'd enforce if you pushed them over it due to lack of evidence.

You don't recall being parked there? Is this true? I'm having trouble believing that you're being entirely honest and I have nothing invested in this matter, in fact I have been known to overstay in a car park before, yet even I would suggest you're wasting everyone's time trying to wriggle out of a legitimate ticket.

I think you'll get a victims surcharge for this hideous crime if you push it too far.

It's plainly obvious why the double yellow lines are there. If they weren't a car could park there and would be sticking out in to the running lane.

One thing from the pic if you really want to push it is that a line needs to end with T marks. The drain breaks the line without them. If you can be bothered to look into that smile
