OP, what did it say in the advert for the car? What was the condition described as?

No comment on condition at all. Just factual.

How do you know the window fault was present when you bought the car if it worked fine for a month and has only just packed up?

You are right, I don't know for sure. However, the odds are very much in favour of this looking at VW forums saying this is a common fault, and that it happens over a period of a couple of months (depending on how much the window is used). Of course, the garage diagnostic work may yet show that this is caused by something else. Its not likely though as there are only a couple of things that can go wrong with it.

So, I'm not as cast iron sure as I indicated before, thats true.

If the window and door lock fault are commonly known issues for failure have you approached the manufacturer?

The chances of them doing anything are slim to none but might be worth a phone call.

I would phone the dealer and ask him to pay for the parts, then you can choose whether to fit them yourself or pay someone else to do it. I was in a similar situation before and the dealer posted me a cheque for the cost of the parts and I fitted them myself. In my case it was on a 9 year old car with 73k miles at £2500 and the faults were common to that particular model.

Well you could knock me down with a feather.
Apparently the warranty will cover the repairs!
A thumbs up for an AA Gold warranty then smile
