I would choose a bigger car park with lots of large spaces.
How much extra would you be willing to pay, in order to purchase all that extra land?

It wouldn't cost more than the damage caused by small parking places.

And it should be said that that those who run car parks should appreciate modern cars are wider. When our local ASDA had its car park completely resurfaced, the bay's were made a tad wider.
Bigger spaces = fewer spaces. Choose.
Although your right of course I think the majority of drivers would like wider spaces.

Right up until the point they can't find a space because the car park's full.

Personally I would go back to that car park and measure the bay's. A random check in my local supermarket shown this:-

2260, 2350, 2230 mm. There were a couple of custom made bay's of 2560, (still doesn't suit some Rover drivers though)

Our local park was totally redone a couple of years ago, all 2400 mm.

Not saying it's the case here, but my other half, being mobility impaired but not enough to get a badge, always requires me to park so there's plenty of room for her to get out. You cannot always find and open end one.
I try to leave enough space for the person on my offside, though.
If all else fails I get her to get out before I park.
And yes, it is a Land Rover, but not that colour.

What would be the point? AFAIK there are no regulations which govern the dimensions of bays on private land.
Other than perhaps a requirement imposed by the local authority when granting development planning permission.

Those on public roads are set out in TSRGD 2002 Schedule 6 Diagrams 1032 & 1033 - http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/3113/sched...

I'm not sure if the plan to scrap the minimum size and allow local authorities to set it came to pass.

I can't find any variant of either Diagram 1032 or 1033 in TSRGD 2016.
