my local school where my children go to was evacuated yesterday after receiving a telephone call along the lines of - "there is a bomb in the school which will cut and slice off your children's heads."

Sounds from my children that armed police arrived and separated children from school then did a search of the school. Nothing found.

Understand about 20 other schools had a similar threat. Any further info?

Grateful to the school and police for acting professionally and quickly.

It was a hoax. Nothing to worry about. There were lots up and down the country.

I don't know, teachers these days have it easy. Back when I was at school we had a bomb threat and the teachers set to and searched the place themselves. Different times.

The story is true, my tone is sarcastic, for the avoidance of doubt

I read somewhere it was the same recorded message sent to every school and it was traced back to Russian hackers

I did wonder if all the warnings were kids trying to avoid their exams. Wonder why its never happened any other year, maybe the police taking it more seriously this year for some reason?

I doubt it, given a lot of the schools were primary schools....

Also, at school only the biggest sts thought that pulling a fire alarm was a good idea to get out of an exam, not make a hoax bomb threat.

Our local secondary was targeted.

The parents were not best pleased when the first they found out about it was on Facebook!

Also they did a 'lock down' rather than evacuate which annoyed some as well.
