Tasers & pepper spray online shop
Discussion
The inner teenager in me led me to a website which stocks various self-defence items. Among the products on offer are Tasers, pepper sprays, throwing stars (!) and surveillance equipment.
UK law effectively makes pepper sprays illegal, as they expel a noxious substance. Yet the website claims "We gladly ship ALL our items to the UK and the rest of the world!".
I'm curious to know a) how they can ship a prohibited product here legally and b) at what point the buyer breaks the law, upon purchase or receipt?

itdepends where it is coming from - as some places have very strict laws on customs labelling etc so it gets stopped on entry to the UK and words are had by the local constabulary or they let it get delivered and you get prosecuted ... tasers, noxious spray, throwing stars are explicitly banned as is importing telescopic batons ...
the sprays are S5 fire arms so expect an 'interesting' reaction from pc plod if it is allowed through to delivery ...
Watching a Prison documentary a couple of weeks ago, a lad was in jail for ordering a taser - not sure if he even received it - he was in for between 2 and 5 years (can't for the life of me remember the actual sentence), so why it may be legal for them to send the item to the UK probably not a good idea to be the person who ordered it.
Tempted to buy this on a few occasions just to keep on my person.

Farb-Gel is the 100% legal alternative to pepper spray. It does not contain any harmful chemicals and is non-toxic.
Press to release and spray the red gel onto the attackers face, giving you vital seconds to escape and call the police.
call the police = size 10 in the bks
Must be some coppers on here that can say for certain if this is definitely legal.

You could just as easily carry a Jif lemon and spray that.
A tin of beans in a strong bag is legal and does the job if you drape it over someone's canister a couple of times.Bonus points are you can still eat the beans afterwards.
(Other tinned goods will do if you don't like beans)

Well that's interesting. When did the law change?
My wife used to live alone in Holland. She had a small pepper spray just in case (common over there). Flew back and forth many times with it to the uk with no issues - but this was years ago.
I think I now need to check the "drawer full of ste" to make sure it went in the bin at some point in the last 12 years! Not seen it for ages, but wouldn't fancy doing a stretch for it...

Carrying anything with the intention to cause injury (self defence or not) is illegal. Spraying that in face/eyes could cause injury. Tricky one.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FARB-GEL-Farbgel-Red-Dye...
