So when the time comes to replace this model what will Nissan deliver?
Each generation is a step change improvement but are we not now nearing the limit of tangible gains be it in performance lateral g ring times etc.
Will it be a case of making the next model cost the consumer less more for less ?
And please can we have 650bhp per tonne pretty please.

I honestly believe the next properly new GTR will be a hybrid, it's too much of a tech based car to not be really. I think it will be Nissans equivalent of the i8, really showing off what they can do with the platform, but hopefully with the technology advancements be a bit more viable than the i8 was.

There has only been one generation of "GT-R". Before it was just a top-spec badge in the Skyline range.So the current generation was the first to have no ties to the standard Skyline.
The price has also jumped nicely since release, so I recon they'll aim for a larger cost (fill the price gap the new 911 has left?), so they can invest a whole load more into making it comparable to the new 911 turbo, but half the price.

Um this latest revision is between 80 and 92k, so they would have to massively lower the price for it to be half that of a 911 turbo.Regarding 650bhp per ton, assuming weight was similar they'd need to give it over 1100bhp as standard.

Recent acquisition of Mitsubishi Motors (and close ties with Mitsubishi on manufacturing hybrid components) would suggest this is bang on the money. KarlMac said:

"Torque filling"Isn't one issue with Hybrid/EV is that the motors will effectively be identical in all vehicles so then it's simply aero weight and gearing which will determine performance.

I reckon Digitalize has nailed it. Next GTR will surely be a hybrid, like a junior Mac P1/918/LaFerrari. Wouldn't be surprised to see 800-1000 BHP combined power figure either, given what Tesla are outputting. I would expect (again) that Nissan would be looking to trample all over the 911 Turbo in terms of performance. There will be plenty of high tech, fancy composite materials etc. nad the driving experience would be akin to playing a video game I guess.Whitean3 said:

That's a bold statement "trampling over a 911 Turbo S" it takes a very special car indeed to live with that car let alone take it to the cleanersWelshbeef said:

I agree totally, but I was trying to be neutral in my post- I would take a Porsche (wouldn't even have to be a Turbo either) over a GTR every single time (I am a Porsche nut by the way). The GTR, whilst a techno-fest with some exceptional performance stats just doesn't do it for me. Like I said before, much akin to playing a video game. But the GTR fans will bring out the stats and ring times etc to show how superior the GTR is vs a 911 Turbo- this is Nissan's performance benchmark. Of course, official performance figures and lap times in the hands of a racing driver do not tell us what the car is like to drive but will stand up to the 911 Turbo figures, of that I am sure.
There are those that 'get' the GTR, and there are those that 'get' Porsche; equally, there are many with opposite sentiments!

"The Porsche may be fractionally quicker in a straight line but the experience seems almost two-dimensional after the Nissan, as if all the character has been sucked out for fear it might compromise the efficiency"
