On a more serious note, where would people draw the line?

Moving a 1 and a 3 to within a hairs breadth. Forget ANPR, plenty of human eyes miss that one, and as for CCTV....

Mixing all the spacing so the plate looks from overseas?

Moving a 1 and a 2 together and putting the 2 on a slant?

Just moving it at all seems slightly sad. It's surprising how insecure some people are where messing about with their number plate makes them feel better..

Oh, I'm with you.

I just wonder where those saying 'it's just moving it a bit' would then say it was too much.

And whose decision should then be final?

A clear line could be when it can't be read by ANPR anymore.

ANPR reads better than the old mk1 eyeball. You get longer to decipher the image.

That's really the crux of the matter. The line is wherever the law says it is.

If you want to go past that line then feel free but - like with speeding or letting your MOT lapse by a day or two or countless other "minor and pointless" rules - if you cross the line and get caught then suck it up like a man rather than bhing like a little girl.

That's the real offence in these cases - acting like a cissy when caught.

Even better when you get caught and then no action is taken anyway smile

The simple act of moving one letter has changed my life. It makes me feel good every time I see it. I expect you'll mock, but I had an extra plate made up to put on my mantelpiece. Whenever I feel a bit insecure, I just gaze it and I can't describe the boost it gives.

I sometimes feel insecure, will a private plate help even if I don't move the letters?

Of course not. You have to "mess with it". Please don't tell me you haven't got your name as a footer too? You will never return from the depths of despair unless these vital rules are adhered to.

Don't listen to the haters, be a man, be a chav.

Reading your posts on this thread I'm not surprised.

I wondered why they all wave, beep and flash at me. Mind you all other Audi drivers do too, not to mention the BMW and VW people - it seems I have quite a following.

What does it mean when they lean out of the window and wave their partially clenched fists from side to side? They sometimes do it near their faces whilst simultaneously pushing the opposite side of their cheek out with their tongue???? Baffles me.

It's a sign of respect. It's their way of saying "You da man!!"

You do yourself an injustice. The numberplates are incidental to your awesomeness. The policeman was just jealous.
