I did nine years in the RAF and was never required to have my name on the plate. There is no purpose to that whatsoever. I currently work as a civvie on an army base, so I'll check it out on Tuesday. Come to think of it, I'll ask a mate who has just left the army. Q. Why do I have my name on it?
