Op apologies for going slightly off topic but recently I was looking at purchasing a polish vehicle that was in the Uk myself, my concern at the time was that I obviously wouldn't be able to hpi check the car and to check whether it wasn't a stolen vehicle, my instinct was that surely it is very easy for someone in Poland to drive a car over here and sell it on autotrader for 10k cash but then claim the car was stolen in Poland and claim on insurance or the car wasn't there's to sell in the first place, what process did you go through to make sure the bike was legitimate.

On the topic of registering the bike in the Uk, what steps did you have to go through or what are you currently going through to make it Uk road legal?

Thanks for your help

Personally I wouldn't bother buying a car from Poland unless its something really rare, (OP's Bike excepted due to its rarity) a good 85% of the vehicles for sale here have been in some sort of accident and the levels of damage they repair beggars belief,

For example look at this M5's Before and after pictures
http://bez-wypadkowe.net/showthread.php/2386-BMW-e...

Not all quite that bad but most smile

As for selling on a stolen car, When our Polish registered car was stolen the insurance company took the logbook immediately and its not something you can get a duplicate of. If you lose the logbook you have to change the number plates and registration number (The Hologram on the plates has to match the hologram on the logbook and the hologram on the windscreen sticker) Also the insurance company won't pay out without the logbook.

Sorry to Hijack your thread OP, Great looking machine and very rare even over here! If you get stuck with any of the Polish documentation or need translations of anything drop me a PM and I'll get the wife to take a look smile Just out of interest which part of PL did it come from originally?

Thanks guys that's a huge help.

You make some good points CBD1983, unless it's a rare gem it seems it's not worth the aggravation, initially the reason I was interested as it was Mk6 Gti with low mileage and around 5k less that similar Uk spec cars, I spend 6 months a year in Portugal so with it being lhd it would of been handy, The car in question definitely had some ??? around it, I suspect something wasn't quite right, it normally is when certain things don't add up. Thanks for your advice.

Op superb looking bike by the way, I can see why you went through the effort of purchasing it.

How about one of these... they do a tripod mount for it!

Don't worry about the helmet, it was just my son messing about trying them on!

I think you will find an MG 42 more appropriate for a left hooker and not a Bren (??) Gun.
