Quick update, the camera operator has been sacked due to improper contact and using foul language and operating from a private driveway (conversation was recorded)
Thank you all for your support, I am now on a mission to get every mobile camera van operative sacked, all it takes is a little wind up and they take the bait....
Many Many thanks again,,,,hehehehe
Complete and utter bullst

1. Convening a disciplinary meeting will take significantly longer than the few days since this supposedly happened

2. A decision to dismiss for gross misconduct is rarely decided on quickly after an initial meeting

3. You will not be advised of the outcome of any hearing

Other than that great story rolleyes

As stated, a police vehicle does not have to be driven by a Police Officer. This includes camera vans, unmarked vehicles and fully marked response vehicles.

There are a number of roles (including camera van technicians) that are carried out by Police Staff for the very reason stated above, that it would be a huge waste of resources to have a fully sworn in Police Officer manning a camera van where no exercisable power is needed to carry out that duty.

It comes in handy when someone parks in your way though.

Now I am confused. If the above statement is true then why do I see police vans and cars on the A40 driven by civilians but with the word POLICE taped over. If the above is true who would bother.
