Sorry if this isn't 100% the correct section but wondering if anyone has any experience.

I'm buying a used car that was on a private plate, this was removed using the online service on Saturday so the plate can be removed instantly and new (old) one fitted, with the V5 taking 3-5 working days to follow.

I've spoke with DVLA and the car is now on the old correct plate on their systems, how long does it take to update on HPI, reg checks, insurance databases etc as it's still showing now as on the old private plate?

Hope this makes some sense.

Cheers

The only one that should matter for you is the new V5C - and they're taking about a week at the mo.

Just inform your insurance and away you go.
Worth keeping a copy of insurance docs in the car.

Was only two days for updated V5 when I did a transfer a few weeks back.

DVLA have been very quick in my recent dealings with them.

3 or 4 days later got my docs

If you're about to buy it, you're about to insure it - so that's entirely dependent on your insurer - and I presume you've already done all the HPI'ing that you plan to do?
