As above...after 'parking wars' for years with my old neighbours who refused to park either car on their huge lovely paved driveway, I decided to make sure my next house had plenty of space !! I can now shoe horn 9 cars on the drive , but guess what ? The old farts who visit the village hall occasionally abandon their cars across my drive and one so brave as to literally park on my driveway eekmadmad

What is actually wrong with people these days, absolutely zero consideration for anyone else ???

Fill the exhaust pipe with brake fluid, won't do any damage but will it smoke when all warmed up.

Ha ha, and do you recommend with or without the "I Love Gay Porn" sign Amazon helpfully recommends as a complementary purchase???

That would f'ing infuriate me. I'd move the lot and park where I liked.

After many, many parking issues in what was a non-commuter/school area cul-de-sac, in the top 3 priorities for our current house was a 2 car drive.
Me too, but I don't want to come back to a damaged car. The people who are arrogant enough to believe that they have a right to a parking space on a public road, would probably think it reasonable to take revenge on a car parked in "their" space.

I have a school fairly close, but never any issues to park our cars as we have a driveway like most of you however, if I came home to find someone brazenly parked on our drive, I have often thought I might block them in, and stick a note on their windscreen telling that I've gone on holiday for two weeks and they'll have to come back then.
I guess in those circumstances it would leave my car up for vandalism, but the two good cars are locked in the garage and it might be quite entertaining watching them ruin the snotter on CCTV.

Would it be tard-ish to follow/note where they live and in the near future when you have a school day off work, go round their house early and park straight across their driveway just before they need to leave for the school run? confused

Tard-ish, but incredibly satisfying biggrin.

How about- one day follow them home, get their address, and take note. Then every day they obstruct your access , you note this, with CCTV record. Advise them of intent to look for recompense for lost revenue as you can't use your works vehicle, as they've blocked it by illegally parking across a dropped kerb.
It might be worth finding out at what time this vehicle turns up and parking your works vehicle out early to prevent them .

Behaviour changes with consequences. If there is some "unfortunate" or "undesirable" consequence to blocking you in then they will stop. Any local children under the age of criminal responsibility looking for extra pocket money ? ( just wondering) 😉
Meantime phone police each and every day and report a vehicle causing an unnecessary obstruction. Once and they will ignore/fob you off. 10 or 20 consecutive days the local warden will be out every day as he tries to hit his productivity target, issuing fixed penalty. £££=consequence=action

I think this sort of thing is symptomatic of the self-obsessed attitude of much of the population who just don't give a flying fcensoredk about anybody else!

Where I live we have a parking area next to my house where I have 2 allocated spaces that are on the house deeds but nobody seems to take any notice! Although one does now because when they kept using one of my spaces I started using theirs - it's handy being retired sometimes! But next time I move I really need to consider that aspect a bit more.

Still it could be worse; I'm not down the back on the other side where we usually have a 7.5 tonne flat-bed parked every night (occasionally 2 of them) by someone seemingly running a scaffolding company from home! It's sign-written but the only contact details are a web-site and a mobile number - a sort of virtual business!

Loved that Chinese YouTube clip though - now I see why you need a 4 X 4 in the city!

Though if the trucks arent actually in the way I would leave them alone. The owner is just trying to make a living.

If they are that cavalier with regard to the Operating Centre I wonder what other parts of the Traffic Commissioners and DVSA requirements they consider optional ?

Several sensible things you can do, no quick fixes.

I did stuff like this and got the matter sorted.

Contact the council and ask them to paint a "H" Bar outside your drive. They will say no. Ask them in what grounds they say no and ask for those reasons in writing. Also ask their advice on what do do if you see an offence being committed. In my case the council told me to call the cops.

So, on council advice every time this happens call the police. In my case the police were very good. Each time I told them the council had advised me to call. On most occasions the police would call the RK and tell them to move it. Quite often if they weren't busy an officer would turn up. Usually after the car had gone but explain to the police you have been told to call them and that you agree that this is a waste of their time and that an "H" bar would make everyone's life easier.

Contact your local councillor. A chat about overstretched police being made more busy with a council refusal to do something simple. Mention "trigger" words like anti-social behaviour, rights etc. Councillors like trigger words. Email photographs of the offending cars to the councillor, your local beat officer etc every time this happens. Remain friendly, but become a pain in the arse. I think councillors for example have to get you a response in X-many days.

Be polite with these people. Play the reasonable man, the guy who needs to drive to earn his living.

Eventually the council put an "H" bar marking on the road outside my drive despite it not being policy. Support and pressure from the councillor and police worked. Give the councillor an incentive. I pointed out to mine that a photo of her looking all happy next to a happy voter might look good on her election leaflet.

It was a massive ball ache. I had countless confrontations with drivers over this. I took out some creative revenge on some, gave others mouthfuls,.

The "H" bar is not some sort of magic barrier. It does make it bloody obvious to most people that it's not a place to park. Since it was painted (touch wood) I have only had one problem. A German woman in a Land Cruiser. I caught her in the act of parking. She rolled down the window and said "I can park here". My reply, was: "is that a statement or a question? Either way no."

It is a royal pain in the arse. No fun at all. An "H" bar may be the way forward. OP, message me if you like and I'll go into more detail about how you might force the council's hand.
