Hmm. I got flashed in Alsace earlier this week in my own car, can I expect a ticket in the post?
No because they won't have your details like they would for an in country hired car.

From what I've read there is currently no specific arrangement for the French authorities to chase you back in Britain over a speeding incident there. You don't say whether you're still in France - if you are and they pull you, they can and will take you directly to a cash point, do not pass Go, do not collect £200 - though they will collect significantly more than that from you in Euros. I also wouldn't put it past them to try and get you when you leave or if you ever come back into the country in that same car, assuming they could read your reg. Foreign Governments really do not like us going to their countries and breaking their speed limits with seeming impunity - ask me how I know rolleyes That said, chances are you're home free...

I'm actually in Croatia now and due to go back home next week but probably not through France although undecided as yet. I've heard the horror stories about on the spot fines which is why I'm usually Anal McLooney about sticking to the limits and doubly annoyed for getting flashed at 125 in a 110. I thought it was only on the spot stuff where they marched you to a cash point though?

They will only pull you and take you to a cashpoint if they have caught you speeding at the time. There is no link between the gendarmes "on the ground" and the fixed speed cameras.

If it was in my own car and it was fair/I'm planning to return in the SAME car - yes. Any other? Hmmm

You won't get a ticket. I wasn't quite so lucky here in Cyprus. 10 mins after clearing Customs I had a rather angry police,an waving a speed gun at me showing 88kph in a 50. Quite funny when he said he's fining me €50, bit no points. No idea how he thought he could give me points.

I paid the fine, as it's my car over here.

Just wondering, would the same logic excuse French drivers from paying tickets acquired in the UK, sent in English?
Assuming that any French driver would be stupid enough to respond to some bizarre demand sent in gibberish to them then I'd have to say yes.

Not least 'cos I'd love to see the UK authorities trying to exercise their 'powers' in grenouille land. biggrin

Le Rosbif now allow all foreigners to cross the Thames at Dartford free of charge whilst nailing Brits for the privilege....

I habitually set off the camera between Dunkirk and Calais, three or four times a year.
