How big is your dad? In feet and inches or metres.
12 inches. But it was cold.

He's a midget. Even Tyrion on Game of Thrones isn't that small. Or any of the Time Bandits. I don't believe you.

I see what you're trying to do. I'm not putting a picture of him up.

And there's why you can't have a sensible debate on here. You're either "anti-speed scum", or if you say that you're a habitual speeder to remove that insult, you suddenly become a willy waver, exactly as my post predicted.

100mph on the M6 over Thelwall, or down the M62 over the bumps near Warrington, or up the hills near Wigan on the M6, or down the M602 to Salford Quays, most parts of the M60 and so on are pretty scary places to be doing over 100, especially if it's during the day.
I missed this.
Who were you responding to anyway?

Must have some sort of deer detector to make safe progress at three figure speeds near Elvedon. 9pm March 18th = dark.

So, 56 day ban and a £365 fine.

Good result for him, pretty lenient.

At 21 as well, he's going to have fun at his next insurance renewal.

56 day ban and a £250 fine - and as you probably know, the fine was assessed according to his income (as a mechanic).

The rest being court costs I presume? Either way, a good result for him IMO. smile

I guess with this outcome, the offence was an SP30?
Without knowing every specific detail, it does seem somewhat lenient, and that's after I consider Bury St Edmunds magistrate to have been very easy on me a few years ago!

The maximum ban for speeding is life

cmagire - I have a very good idea of the outcome, but that's not point of this discussion.
Are you sure ? i'm sure that when I got advice from a magistrate friend that the available penalty to impose was a ban from 7 to 56 days ? with the option to extend this to 120 days in "extreme cases"

Having said that, i'm slightly surprised he only get the normal max of 56 days. If 150mph isn't "extreme cases" what the hell is ?

Yes, I'm sure that you've posted some nonsense about 56 day maximum and 120 days.

Not yet. Suffolk Constabulary has made a formal request for the sentence be reviewed - http://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/lakenheath_mecha...

Which can't happen. He should know better.

"Inspector David Giles from Suffolk Constabulary said afterwards the shortness of the ban did not send out the right message.

“There can be no excuses and I’m not condoning speeding at all, but we’re faced with a world here that someone can get caught four times doing less than 40mph and get a ban for far longer than someone doing 154mph,” he said."

Correct, but not in the way he thinks. Someone caught doing less than 20% over the limit should just get a fine. Points for doing 36mph in a 30 are a ridiculous idea.

You would think that Suffolk plod would at least speak to a CPS lawyer to discuss options rather than make up their own procedure that doesn't exist.

On another note does this increase or decrease the value of that particular SEAT?
