You can get your declarable income down to 200 a week? These along with a few other snippets paints a picture.

As for the brake/twunts comment. Whats that got to do with blokes like this who thinks he/she is an ace driver bullying his way through at way higher speeds?

There's a time and a place for speed. When it involves putting others at risk do you think that is right?

These are rhetorical questions. I don't need an answer thanks.

Fines are done on net weekly income, very easy to get the right result via salary sacrifice/one-off SIPP contribution

I do oppose the S59, it's a penalty - with the statement now saying what it does I'll be in-effect penalised twice for the same thing, had the comment been omitted it would be fair.
So when the magistrates asks to see your last three months payslips what are you going to say? I suspect you may have a tough time trying to persuade them that an equities analyst only gets £200/week net.

OP, when you get your licence back, come and see me for 1/2 a day and I'll make sure you stay safe and keep your licence intact in future.
Thanks for the offer - will likely take you up on that
If you're as strapped for cash as you have been claiming, how will you be able to afford to travel all that way from Kent? wink

OP someone bullied me yesterday and I thought of you. The idiot was gesticulating for me to then pull over.

I'll never bully drivers over. You never know where the next red light or jam will be.

Time to grow up and accept your punishment like a man rather than wearing a false-steel armour that enables you to act anti socially and dangerously on our streets.

High horse? No. Try attending a few RTC's. The speed heroes on here would soon change their views.

OP accepts punishment, as long as its at a cost and time of his choosing.

Dear God, I despair of this type of post.

Nothing happened. The OP was on a four lane stretch of motorway in light traffic, controlled the car around traffic and made progress when it was clear.

This all comes across as a bit "what if" and "think of the children" - accidents do happen, but the risk/reward for speeding isn't going away. It is a low risk activity, albeit with a high consequence.

You can travel at 70 mph and your risk of a incident is not significantly different.

You fill out a form before you go into court.

So, if you could move over why were you hogging the lane? No wonder people get frustrated with inconsiderate drivers like yourself failing to obey the rules of the road...

The magistrate looked at my form and I guess did some math in their head. When filling in the form I approximated all my in-comings downwards and outgoings upwards so that my disposable income was the lowest it could be. I didn't see this as dishonest because I had to estimate most of these numbers and it seemed unwise to give estimates which would end up costing me more money.

Maybe if you obviously take the piss the magistrate will be able to tell that the numbers are made up and will look into it. I'm guessing they can't afford to check everybody's financial statuses.

The system is far from perfect, you realise this when you first experience it.

The fine is assessed according to your net weekly income. Not disposable income. The optional outgoings part (section 3) is relevant only to repayment.

Think the OP was angling that he may have amended proofs for his income showing it lower.

In reality, don't they just trust you to be honest on the form?
