I have great difficulty believing that a shopping mall doesn't have CCTV covering all access points, some form of electronic entry system whether by swipe card or fob (which would be recorded) at the staff entrance and also the shop having it's own CCTV system. What about alarm unsets/sets as these are usually recorded too. Sounds like a tuppeny ha'penny set up to me.

If this has been ongoing for a longtime then there would be plenty of these falsified slips to get fingerprint and or DNA evidence from. If there's none of bilb's on them that would exonerate him, if there's consistent evidence of another then that's your culprit. I presume these slips do not comprise just a signature but some sort of tallying of the figures. Even with some disguising there will be tell tales in the handwriting which an expert would be able to tell whose handwriting it was. Surely with such a major loss over time the store owners would want to find the culprit and not retain a dishonest member of staff. Either the police SOCO department or even a private investigation which needn't cost a fortune would surely pay dividends.

Is he a union member? They might help.

No bearing on guilt or innocence but it doesn't look good that he didn't take them to a Tribunal for wrongful dismissal. I can't help wondering if the employer sees this as an admission of guilt.

The way it's written it reads like it's him.

The most telling thing for me is him not being that bothered about clearing his name. Most innocent people would want to clear their name not just quietly move on.
