At the risk of being contentious, my comment would be that this sort riding gets us all a bad name with the police and the general public.

Not sure why you'd want to film yourself blatantly breaking the law. Seems like a daft thing to do if you ask me - there's always the chance that the footage could be used against you, especially when riding/driving like this!

How did they get busted?

Impressive wheelies though cool

Getting banned for 18 months with an extended retest and £500 costs seems rather excessive for doing a short burnout.

Don't think it was just for that.

They must have all been doing the same high speeds if they rode as a group.

At a guess, dangerous driving conviction carrying a minimum 12 month disqual and extended retest. On this bases sentence is towards bottom end of the scale for this offence (maximum 2 years imprisonment, unlimited fine). Press might talk about particular standout actions, whereas the court would view course of conduct as a whole.

The fact it was in a protective case probably meant that the guy couldn't access the microsd card in time.
I have wondered if having a large memory card in your dashcam is a good idea as if you crash and the police seize the vehicle they can (card size dependant) go back through hours of footage to find something to incriminate you.

I like the Mobius actioncam as if you hold down M then pull out the power cable it formats the card.

Obviously we can't know the full details from a brief summary in a news article but it does rather sound like they were riding like complete idiots and the footage in the article supports that.

the data will still probably be recoverable

you would need to secure overwrite everything which would take some time

would be better to snap the card or eat it smile

Doing a burnout on a petrol station forecourt next to the fuel pump doesn't seem the most considerate of things to do.

Granted - but what's illegal about it? Furthermore, how does the road traffic act apply to a petrol station, given that its likely private property/road?

I think doing those sorts of speeds, doing wheelies on a public road etc. & then filming it..... That's one hell of a risk & a pretty fking stupid piece of muppetry IMO. Not a great deal of sympathy.

RTA applies in petrol stations just like it does in public car parks etc. Bunch of tools.

Note reference to any other public place, and driving other than carefully.

Would it be possible to do both a careful & safe burnout? Apart from the acrid smoke, which may be an environmental issue, I don't see how this is dangerous..
