The biker met a car turning out of a parking area - nothing to do with dual carriageways. I don't know what speed either was doing, but the outcome was indeed tragic.

twice as likely to die having sex, three times as likely to die using the stairs

i don't see any "hand wringing/air sucking/tutting" posts full of anecdotal st about banning sex or banning the construction of multi-storey buildings using stairs as the means of access or escape
