I do less than 6,000 miles a year, but couldn't use public transport for more than about 1500 of them - it simply doesn't go where and when I need to go .

You need to keep at the dealer, your contract is with the dealer and not fiat uk or italy.

If you want to reject the car write to the dealer stating that and why along with when you expect a response, be reasonable.

If the car is on finance you can involve the finance company as well in this and they may have more influence.

Other modes of public transport may be available.

Including "taxis".

Not at a cost effective price. Taxi from home to the nearest large town (12 miles away) is £25 each way.

Work with the dealer, but tell them now you expect good communication from them...and dont buy a fiat in future.

If the OP's not being an idiot, but somebody else commenting is, then I'll quite happily direct comments against them, too.

It's hardly my fault if there's a lot of people who seem to like being idiots.
TBF if they'd sorted him a courtesy car out promptly it we might not be hearing about it.

You invest a lot of trust in a new car purchase, often how a company deals with problems is more important than how reliable a product is, it can certainlly make you lose all faith in a product more than a car doing car breaky downy stuff, or it can reassure you what a great decision you made going for brand x.

Ill leave it to you to decide what frame of mind one might be in after having to harrarss them for a week to get a courtesy car.

Sounds like the expectation was that the car wouldn't be in for anything LIKE as long as it has been, but the job has escalated.

One week and you've made over 40 phone calls
that's pretty much harassment
Of course no one has returned you calls, you've called them every working hour for a week

Tell em to stick it - request a refund from dealer in writing.

Same fault, 3 attempts and conceding they don't know how to fix it makes it unfit for purpose.

Not really. On these sorts of threads he insists that rejection is not possible.

It generally is possible and is just one possibility to resolve issues.

Not quite, your presuming I've been calling 1 organisation constantly - there are 3 parties involved and LOTS of too'ing and fro'ing.

Anyway, voicemail received yesterday from Fiat UK advising that they are awaiting a new part for the car and that the car might even be ready by COP today.

For what it's worth, the finance company have agreed that rejection is possible given the issues we've experienced but obviously not in their interest for me to do that. They are applying pressure to Fiat UK also now, which seems to have moved things along.

In other news, the missus just set off for work in the courtesy car...and the damn thing wouldn't start. Grrreat!!

In fairness to the customer theres a point at which they have to call time on getting it back and give him a set of wheels, Id say that points inside 24hrs.

I understand your frustration but it does sound like they are fixing it. I have done 10k miles in my petrol 500X with no issues of any sort, we bought it as a cheap runabout and have been very impressed with it.

All i can say is i wish you well with getting a resolution to the problem , be it resolved via repair or refund or a new car. Its a pain in the arse and especially when you have laid out good money in good faith on the purchase. to be honest i had a punto and hated it after a few weeks, the power steering would often cut out only resetting after turning the key, and always electrical probs due to crap wiring. also i dont know if they changed design but when or if the wipers go, they will keep going on the passenger side as the mech is designed and not changed from left hand drive. never will i have a fiat again

Seems like they are dragging their heels. If they haven't found a solution to fix it it isn't acceptable to have you waiting around without a car until they figure it out.

Whats that old saying FIAT = Fix it Again Tomorrow

Of course they have agreed. Anything is possible. And no, they arent applying pressure to anyone. This i can promise you.
