I put my 3 piece suit in for dry cleaning and the idiots put a safety pin through the silk back of my waistcoat to attach an label. This has resulted in damage to the waistcoat. The damage is 2 small holes from the pin. This may appear to be minor but it wasn't damaged before it went in. The waistcoat is part of a 3 piece suit worth £630 and the waist coat cant be bought separately. I want to pursue compensation of the full value of the suit which is £630 since I cant buy the waistcoat separately. The company has offered a good will gesture of £100. I have rejected this. What are my options, thanks.

Take the waistcoat to a tailor and get a quote for a new silk back to be sewn in.

So a cheap suit has two small holes in an inconspicuous position because you failed to ask the cleaners not to pin their ticket in a particular area of fabric?

But, on a serious note. Is it really that noticeable?

hehe I'm currently sitting in a suit that cost me <£50

I think you could be reasonable and at least call the OP's suit 'medium priced'

I think you're pissing in the wind with this one.

They have offered £100 which seems very reasonable and probably more than it would cost to have a tailor repair it.

Why would you think they should pay the full retail price of a used suit? How old is it?

This. Just like if someone bumps your car, you get it repaired, not replaced.

Regardless or the rights and wrongs of the case, only on PH is a £630 suit a cheap one!

Two pinholes in a waistcoat?

I'd just pocket the £100 which i feel is a very generous offer.

No-one's going to notice two pinholes on a waistcoat and you're never going to get a new suit out of it.

Can you not just rub/massage the material where the holes are to close the holes up It's unlikely they have actually cut through the silk thread when inserting the pin, just pushed it aside. (After taking the very generous £100 on offer, of course!).

This place is so far disconnected from the real world at times. Honestly two pin holes.

£100 seems generous bite their arm off.

You are never going to get £630 for two pins holes, it's new for old insurance it's a dry cleaners.

Think the Ops expeactations are far to high
