Sounds like a typical Road Captain. Oriental 4x4 and a chip on his shoulder. Have a couple swanning around my area, I usually spot them by the 'personal plate' which always seems to be an old R plate.

I recently had someone cut round me, slam on so hard that his emergency braking kicked in and I stopped inches away from his back bumper, then road rage to the point that I honestly thought he was trying to cause an accident.
All this time I didn't gesticulate, nor flash my lights, nor engage with him in any way. Just kept my distance.
As he then crawled past my house later at 10mph I thought it best to let the coppers know in case I woke up to a smashed car.
Despite this nutterdom being clearly caught on camera, the police weren't interested. Probably because of all the time-wasting smegheads continually whingeing to them that some maniac undertook them when they were hogging the outside.
So don't worry about it.
(Btw the only logical explanations I've got for my nutter are 1) he thought I was someone else or 2) he disagrees with the newish road layout so is trying to "teach" everyone to do it his way)

The only prat involved here is the pickup driver!

I wouldn't be surprised if it had been edited to within an inch of it's life and put on Youtube laughlaugh. I always wonder if it gives video uploaders a great sense of well being doing so. More often than not it shows the camera owners lack of awareness/anticipation or them to be the tt!

If I find the footage I will post a link. The more I think about it the less I am bothered.

I've often said to my wife the only other job I would be interested in is road traffic plod. What a great job (apart from clearing up the wrecks and bodies). People doing 90 on a deserted motorway, no problems crack on. So long as it's safe. I'd like to think I would use common sence. Heaven help the world if I ever did become road traffic police. Dawdlers, poor lane discipline, bumper hogging, they would be first in my list of priorities for a stop and education. I don't know why but middle/ outside lane hoggers just piss me off and tend to be the once that have no situational/special awareness at all. That and people on there phone or as in the idiot I saw on the a46 a couple of weeks back with an iPad strapped to his steering wheel watching a movie. It defies belief sometimes.

I had some bloke do this to me on the bike a few weeks ago.

Two lanes, lane one empty. He sits in Lane two for over a mile. I use my horn and he just points at his dash cam.

Wound me up no end.

Why waste your life trying to boss the traffic about? Just undertake and get on with your day. I reckon I must understand hundreds of cars on my commute most mornings. Meh.

The roads aren't a battle ground, we all just want to get where we are going and be left alone.

Anyway as I get in front I move infront of him and signal to the inside lane as a suggestion to stop sitting in the outside lane when it's clear on the inside.
This is the bit you did wrong. There's just no point - he knew what he was doing, it's not like you're educating him and he's suddenly going to see the light.

The other thing to keep in mind while driving is that every year 20% of adults suffer some level of mental illness. You really don't want to wind one of those people up while they driving a chunky SUV at you.

If he was doing 60, just ignore his crapness and cruise past up the inside at 70.
