Blocked from overtaking

Traffic lights this morning, dual carriageway merging into single, 100m after the lights, which are on red.
I pull into the empty right lane and sit 3m back from the line, Focus in left lane literally turns right trying to block my lane as the lights change.
I moved slightly right and nearly traded mirrors as I went past him.
I've had them drift from left into right hand lane to block at 3 sets of lights in a row, I stopped at 4th set of lights in left lane while the knobber sat in right lane giving me the stare, lights went green and he was still sat there as I pulled away, bizarre people I pull into the empty right lane and sit 3m back from the line, Focus in left lane literally turns right trying to block my lane as the lights change.
I moved slightly right and nearly traded mirrors as I went past him.

There is another breed of 'Blocker' that I've had the amusement of arguing with!
They have decided, upon spotting your 'move' without any forethought and awakening from their stupor, that you are behaving in a dangerous manner and might cause harm to yourself, or even them!
So, they block you from passing to 'School' you in the art of safer progress! THEY are driving at the maximum safe speed for the road and conditions, so NOBODY shall pass!!!
Amazing attitude problem on these people that is quite unshakable. They can't grasp that a competent driver, with good planning, in a decent car, might be safe to overtake them.
I think these are amongst the most wilfully dangerous drivers on the road. They think they save countless people from death on every journey and pat themselves on the back smugly
I don't think I've ever read a more unintentionally ironic, arrogant, hypercritical and self-unaware post! They have decided, upon spotting your 'move' without any forethought and awakening from their stupor, that you are behaving in a dangerous manner and might cause harm to yourself, or even them!

You, just as bad as 'them'!

Why then play pushy-shovey with somebody who's apparently determined to be a cock?
Dashcam would be worth seeing...

Why wouldn't you ?
Because after the dual is a nice single carriageway A road - in the rush hour I'd have no chance of overtaking and I'd rather go at my speed and with a view (for a few miles at least) than his speed and looking at a Focus.
Dashcam - I doubt I'll ever have one.
Encountered, not for the first time, another variation on the blocker this morning..
Approach to roundabout splits into 2 lanes, left lane for straight on, right lane to turn right. Car ahead of me clearly aiming for left lane, I'm indicating right and aiming towards the right lane as the road widens to turn right.
So he decides firstly to not totally line up in left lane partially blocking me as the road widens, then on entering the roundabout aims at the apex of the roundabout, totally cutting me off to the extent that had I not braked there certainly would have been a collision. What I was doing had zero impact on him, other than, perhaps, he'd need to pay a little more attention to his line on the roundabout, but he seemed determined that I wasn't getting alongside at the risk of both our cars.

I think this post fits in a roundabout etiquette thread, as you've just discovered Mr (or Mrs) Lazy, who can't be bothered to turn the wheel very much, or bother to look in any mirrors! Most of us discovered him/her on our first week behind the wheel, so begs the question, how long have you been behind the wheel? Or, have you just been very lucky, to only discover this now?
Best to NEVER get up the inside of anybody on roundabouts, as this character will always take the 'racing line' and pinch you! It's much scarier when you're up the inside of a massive lorry!

Oh it's hardly a new discovery - but it seems that at this particular roundabout there are a few that AIM for the apex with a car to their right, it's not lazy it is selfish, stupid and dangerous! 99.99....% of drivers 'get' the split lane but some go out of their way to block - hence adding to this thread. They are consciously altering their line to impede another driver - in this case me!Most of us discovered him/her on our first week behind the wheel, so begs the question, how long have you been behind the wheel? As it happens; I make a point of not going up the inside of a massive lorry to avoid that exact issue you mention and give them the room they need. And if you're not going to go up the inside of someone on a roundabout, going to make progress over most motorway junctions somewhat challenging! How long have I been behind the wheel? ... over 30 years and currently averaging about 20k a year.

I see. If it's something particular to this roundabout, then I guess you'll know best As it happens; I make a point of not going up the inside of a massive lorry to avoid that exact issue you mention and give them the room they need. I do really wish Mr/Mrs Anon would wake up and get off their phones on roundabouts though! I do think 99% of this is just pure lack of awareness though.
Everyone with a licence CAN follow a white line or lane. I just think it's easier to drive in straight lines, so as they don't care about what anyone else thinks, they just plot a course and FU if you have to avoid them.
I'm only up to 28 short years driving
I know a person that does this on every roundabout. They swear blind that they checked their mirrors first, but I know they don't ever! She gets away with it as people brake for her and never seem to blow their horn!
She lives in Dorset and drives a silver Jazz, so I guess that helps???

Bank holiday A road. NSL, usual nobs doing 50, & very few places to safely overtake. Eventually get to long straight where its possible to overtake, even with oncoming traffic, as nice wide bypass. I check mirrors, indicate, drop it a cog, pull-out & floor it. What does the nob in front do just as I am starting to pass him?? Floors it so I have no way of continuing the manoeuvre & have to drop in behind him again, braking hard. wker!
1. I don't understand what he was trying to achieve
2. It was fking scary & downright dangerous
3. Is that sort of behaviour legal??
Get a modified supercharged V8 and then whatever they do is irrelevant, HTH :-)1. I don't understand what he was trying to achieve

I doubt very much it is particularly to this roundabout- it just happens to be a mile or so from home... And on my way to work, so I unfortunately cross paths with those either oblivious or malicious at this one more often than elsewhere. She lives in Dorset and drives a silver Jazz, so I guess that helps???
And I am heading for Dorset tomorrow, so will try to remember to watch out for silver Jazzs

I'm just heading out of here in a few mins. I'll tell my Mum to stay indoors for you though And I am heading for Dorset tomorrow, so will try to remember to watch out for silver Jazzs
