This seems the best place to ask - is it true that any police vehicle, even historic ones, can still be called into duty if a crime happens nearby and they happen to be the nearest police vehicles that can attend?

I was reading about the "Liver Run" documentary the other day, featuring some superb precision driving by a pair of Rover SD1s through London, and read somewhere that one of these was on its way to a car show when the officers driving it were called in to respond to a burglary.

The Bank of England say The polymer £5 note weighs around 0.7g

7 tons / 0.7g = 9 071 847.4 units

So about £45 Million
Or if they were 50s about 289 million

Technically any vehicle when used for Police purposes becomes a Police vehicle, so it's immaterial what they were driving... For the purposes of exemptions etc.

If it's being driven by a police office then yeah.

or any vehicle as long as it is being used 'for police purposes' can benefit from the relevant exemptions, doesn't need to be a police officer driving.

Re the A Class, old neighbour of mine was a senior fire officer and had blues inside his windscreen and attached to his grill.
Used to see him go out at all hours when he was on call.
He was in a Freelander, so his own car.
Not sure if he any sirens.

That's the one they pulled me in, just outside Kings Lynn. And the driver was a proper gent, who let me off a many lepton offence with a flea in my ear instead .
