Road tax question?
Discussion
Me and Mrs400 are goin to look at a new car, but we ll be trading my car in and ill be having hers until I find what I want.
Spoke to tescos and I can leave it in her name as shes a named driver on the policy, so will just be a case of changing my car to hers.
But will I have to re tax it??
Many thanks
The way I understood it was it was only when you changed the registered keeper?

You wouldn't need to re-tax her car, as the registered keeper is unchanged.
I'm always the registered keeper of every car we buy and the insurers have no problem with the main driver being either of us. As life circumstances change it's not unusual for us to swap from time to time, so we just have 1 policy each and generally aim for the named main driver to actually drive it most of the time.

Cheers people, its not a big issue in terms of cost (£30 for the yr) but would rather not give DVLA the satisfaction of trying to screw me.
My car sits at work most of the week, she wants a new Fiesta.......(6 months old) and theres more equity in mine.
Then I can decide what I want as and when then. (no rush if it just sat there all week)
