Talking about odd neighbours.

Few years ago we moved into a rented bungalow on a very nice cul de sac. Moving in the guy that lived next to us said hello, if we needed anything 'just ask' but watch out for the guy opposite 'he's Mr angry'.

At the time our Son had a Citroen van (Transit sized, not sign written), within a couple of days Mr angry had complained to the landlord that we had a van parked on our drive. There was a covenant or some such that prohibited van parking.

Landlord rang and told me to park the van on the road outside Mr angry's house! I parked it outside our house.

Weeks later a mate borrowed the van, when he returned it he bumped it up on the pavement. Few hours later a PCSO turned up and put a ticket on it.

I then parked the van outside Mr anger's house, making it difficult from him to get onto his drive but perfectly legally. Minutes later (well it seemed like that!) PCSO turned up.

I went out all ready for a confrontation with Mr angry and the PCSO, before I could get to Mr angry the PCSO heads me off and asks me to wait inside and he will come and talk to me.

10 minutes later he comes over and tells me he has told Mr angry that the van is parked legally, also suggested I read the parking ticket properly*.
I tell him about the parking on the drive problem, he goes back to Mr angry, comes back and tell me to park the van on the drive!

  • I looked at the ticket and he's written a road that doesn't exist for parking in a bus stop!
Didn't the PCSO again, really wanted to thank him. Mr angry never spoke to us, just glared at us anytime he saw us!

I've a fairly loud Subaru that regularly needs washing, and far too much maintenance, and my wife is sick of me 'valdezing' the driveway. Can I use yours?

I am pretty passive, but quite frankly I think even I would tell him to f**k off.
Sounds like he is acting like he owns the bloody road.

We had an old biddy next door, her husband was ok, but once he passed on she became a pain..... "The leaves off your tree have landed on my garden!" If anyone visiting us parked outside her house, within 5 mins she was on the phone " I'm expecting a delivery, you'll have to move that car. We always did, just to keep the peace. Came to the point when she complained "you've parked near my drive, I need 12 feet after my drive to be able to get into my son's car" We were in front of our house, and about 6 ft from the edge of her driveway. We just laughed and didn't speak to her after that. She went to an old folks home- I bet she drove them mad!

What condition is your E46 M3 in? It's just that I get my car serivsed once every 18 months or so. Just wondering why yours needs to be worked on so frequently as to annoy your neighbours.
I think you've got the wrong website. What do you drive then, leased white diesel Audi?

Can you help me? I have a decatted TVR that's a little grumbly at around 6000rpm. As someone who can perform basic maintenance on your cars, would you be available at 8am one Sunday morning to help me check the revs and make sure my car is reaching 6krpm safely?
I think anyone would moan about that to be fair - Saturday 3pm is fair game.
Where dat parrot?
It flew off because the spelling police were coming to get you.
Yet another parrot required!

I had a similar one to this.

I used to bring home a Transit high cube every night, once parked it outside grumpy's house.
Moaned about not being able to see out to the road.
To see what ?
The sea view ?..... Herd of wildebeest ?.....in Surrey.

Poor bloke - he's obviously bored and has literally nothing else to do with his life.
Rather than get angry - you should feel sorry for him. Next time it happens...ask 'Are you OK?' with a concerned look on your face.
If he carries on, tell him it's happening again and would he like you to call someone.

Eventually he'll start worrying about himself and go mad, ending in him being sectioned & locked up for his own safety under the mental health act
And it will be your fault.

The best thing is to just ignore him, it will drive him around the bend. He seems like the type that thrives on responses.

The best thing I ever did was start ignoring my fruitcake neighbour. I t starved him of any ammunition

Based on that post, I take it you see nothing wrong with how the OP's neighbour is behaving then? confused

It must be hard not to want to chin him.

It's obviously the wrong thing to do but, out of curiosity, what would you get for planting one on his face? 6 months or a big fine?

Buy him a cheap bottle of whisky and some really hard chewy sweets. Be overly friendly to him, agree to stop working and let him go inside, then start again.
As said, he is probably mentally ill, as long as he is not tipping brake fluid over your car then just wear earphones when youre working.
