I have a Blue Badge, I forgot to put the time thing in on double-yellows once.

The Badge can be there, and you still get fined. Pay it and get over it.

It's bad enough parking in a disabled spot but then whinging about the fine is really scraping the barrel.

They should double the fine
Except when it's outside of the operational times.

I didn't think disabled spaces had those
There are plenty of examples upthread.

clearly not where the OP parked though or he wouldn't have got a ticket
Quite, but the discussion has moved on from the OP's particular circumstances.

Some disabled people are legless after 6:30pm, so you should have been OK really.

OP, did you take the appeal further?

Co-incidentally, I picked up a PCN for also parking in a disabled bay in London at 2.00am a few weeks ago. I appealed the PCN on various points, and have just heard from the Local Authority that the PCN has been cancelled.

To the rest of the PH crowd, let the flaming begin for me parking in a disabled bay in the first place. getmecoatpaperbag

I did ask for it didn't I hehe

I genuinely parked in that bay as I thought it was timed. The parking sign right above where I parked seemed to substantiate this too. Anyway I have now paid the fine but I still think this is questionable.

The sign does not show anything related to disabled parking, just restrictions for buses or large vans >5t.
Are there any other signs?
If not then you should have contested it with photo evidence of signs etc.
^^This^^

So why did the OP pay? Just because a local authority refuses representations/an appeal doesn't mean it is in the right.
He should have taken it to independent adjudication (London Tribunals or TPT).
Unless of course there is other signage and/or road markings which he chose not to photograph.
It's too late for him now though. Payment is deemed to be acceptance that a contravention took place.
