So this happened on my way home earlier!

Watch: https://vimeo.com/184745988

What makes this whole situation that bit more sickening is this....

Quick background; car/bike enthusiast since 17. Passed at 17, driven cars, vans, bikes, for the last 6 years covering well over 200,000 miles in that time! (Touch wood without incident, and yes.. that involves driving to conditions not limits. Shock.

1.The only reason I'm driving my BMW is I've just bought a second car MX5 and SORN'd it as I didn't want to bother paying for a full months tax for 3 days use. Even made a thread about it on here as I was unsure what to do!

2, I've just sorted all my insurance out, and payed through the roof for it to be legal - declaring all mods on my new car etc.

3. So due to SORN'ing MX5, I took my BMW diesel to work, and on the way home, I took a different route to give it a bit more of a 'run' and get up to optimum temperature. (only 5 mile journey - no good.)

Turns out it would have been cheaper to tax my MX5 for the month, or 6, rather than 3 days....

4. What rubs salt into the wound further is that I stick to 30MPH the entire way past the school, which by the way is completely dead at 5.30PM as the video shows.

I am not speeding at all in my head, merely concentrating in the roads and hazards ahead (coach) I simply leave the car happy in 4th gear and it picks up a few MPH.

5. Just to cut me deeper, I can't spot the Policeman as he's in mostly black and hidden nicely by a reflective sign and a dark coloured bush behind.

Convenient how his police car is parked up on the road adjacent hidden out the way and he's stood at the bottom of a hill with his laser gun isn't it?

6. What's even funnier - and if your reading this, you owe me a pint. Or 100. As I'm being read my ticket details, a Ford Focus ST in asbo orange and clearly modified with a sports exhaust comes flying down the hill and around the corner at well over 45mph. I actually laughed with disbelief at this point.

I'm 100% usually on the police's side and first to defend them in most instances, especially with all these morons online now thinking they are gods gift and recording police doing all-sorts. I was very nice to the bloke even though inside I was raging, and pretty much begged for a slap on the wrists but he wasn't having it - all about those tickets don't you know..

He showed me the laser gun displayed 38 and that was that.

Unfortunately this is a classic case of Police out to hit targets. Not a single piece of road safety about it. I consider myself a very good driver and always on the look out and driving to the roads conditions.

I used to want to be a Policeman but am firmly sure I've made the right choice now, at the old age of 22..

I guess a classic case of 'fk the system' can't beat it, so I thought a good old moan would help. It kind of has.

The money doesn't annoy me, the shear principle of how st the country is when it comes to road policing. Especially when complete twunts are allowed on the road in their micras/ i10's / aygo's that don't have a clue where they are going. The injustice is real..

/RANT

I don't suppose there's anything I can do? Are the usual 'he should have had signs out' or 'that gun isn't calibrated' worth their piss?

Cheers.

Man up.

You weren't doing less than 38 in a 30 (I'll avoid the discussion about over-reading speedos)
It's clearly signposted as a 30. Very clear.
Any school is partly irrelevant - that's a fairly residential area. Your own video shows parked cars, zebra crossings, houses, etc
The Focus ST broke the law as well so also irrelevant.

Quit the melodrama and side story, your make/model of car is irrelevant, as is your prior ambition to join the police.

You aren't hard done by, you took a risk and have the consequences. HTH.

(I do enjoy speed but am religious in 30 and 40 zones, it's just easier)

Haha, to be honest - didn't even think I was speeding, that's what I meant by that.

Of course, I've manned up and taken it - st happens. I just think it's a fking joke. Anyone with an ounce of common sense can tell that's not unsafe driving. OH NOOOOES a 30 sign!!1111. lol.

Just gutted my life line is gone, on commuting from work FFS.... Could have at least been a half decent attempt on my bike. Gutted.

Got it in 1 - target hitting

Given he blends in so much I'd have been very tempted to carry on and run the lanes

I guess I feel hard done by or 'why me' in my head. To me it seems very unfair a.k.a cash cow. It's done, and I don't care much, I'm just pissed off... hope you got that. Lol.

Put it this way, I don't feel like I took a risk. I've taken far bigger, as we all have lets be honest.

I kind of wish I had. No camera either, would need a relatively good memory.

Wonder what the consequences would have been lol.

Clearly not concentrating that hard as you seem to have ignored the 30 sign at about 6 second in.

I feel for you mate, but I've been there to. 33 in a 30 when the local plod when operating a zero tolerance policy. I broke the law, and paid the fine. I now religiously stick to 30-40 limits.

At least you had a decent copper. The one that caught me was incredibly smug and patronising, and without question one of the most miserable and joyless coppers I've ever encountered. (The two previous encounters I'd had for a faulty rear light and a damaged rear plate, which I was going to Hlaford's to replace, were fine).

The only crumb of comfort I got as he droned on was that he seemed to hate his job and life generally.biggrin

And the zebra crossing, houses, etc.

OP, you might be a great driver and does 200k miles but I think your luck caught up with you. Invest £100 in some driving coaching / observation lessons and it will probably make you better for car and bike. We can all learn more at any age...

bad luck suck it up.

One thing I have noticed thou is the amount of people who don't have a clue what the speed limit is. Driving 25-30 in a 40mph. 40mph in a 60. I know it not a target but bunched up cars can be dangerous.
