Indeed, copper at the bottom all in black, what a slag. I would be the first to support a proper copper, but that dog has just been told by the super to go,out and catch a few mugs.

Where's 'Twig the wonder ' when you need him, to give us the facts ?
That made me laugh haha. 100% true. Catch a few mugs, pretend it's safety blah blah, go and watch bullst safety video, proceed to drive in exactly the same manner. And such is life I suppose. What a load of bullst we subject ourselves to. I'd imagine he caught one every few minutes. I'm ticket 3 and he said he hadn't been there long.

Should have turned back and proceeded to warn every other person on the road.. not that I'd ever do that. smile
Well, let me tell you, the tank top wearers will be along soon, to tell you that you are actually death on wheels, and you should be hanged.

Thing is, the tide is actually slowly turning on here against these divvies, check their post counts, empty bedroom, mum not monitoring etc, and you get the picture.

Discard these no marks, and there is some decent people here who will understand you're distress. Motorist = Cashcow, make wky copper all in black look good in supers eyes= promotion. =Not real copper.
Oh dear!

I don't choose my speed based on the limit, or a relative or absolute deviation from that value.

Then I believe you will be very much the exception. Most people who take chances with being caught limit the severity of the potential consequences by keeping within maybe 20% of the limit.

Doesn't look like you're doing 38. Probably 'slippage'.
I must admit I was suprised it was 38, how accurate are those things?

Surely someone on here is anal enough to analyse my footage and tell me?
It'll be a scam - at this time of year they're looking for people to fill up empty speed awareness course slots so they bump up their overtime in advance of Christmas.

He probably wouldn't have cared about the Focus tearing past as that would be too fast for an SAC.

I doubt it.

The OP in this very thread exceeded that.

I won't argue over the number, which would of course vary anyway, but in principle I believe that people do indeed factor the speed limit into their choice of speed even if that's quite a bit more than the limit.

I daresay you don't, but then there are exceptions to pretty much any rule.

Yes, you're right ! I did realise later that I had put the wrong figures down !
Just shows how easy it is to be complacent..............That's why there are spped limits in place !

I feel for you mate, but I've been there to. 33 in a 30 when the local plod when operating a zero tolerance policy. I broke the law, and paid the fine. I now religiously stick to 30-40 limits.

At least you had a decent copper. The one that caught me was incredibly smug and patronising, and without question one of the most miserable and joyless coppers I've ever encountered. (The two previous encounters I'd had for a faulty rear light and a damaged rear plate, which I was going to Hlaford's to replace, were fine).

The only crumb of comfort I got as he droned on was that he seemed to hate his job and life generally.biggrin
just out of curiosity... if said copper is getting all preachy what can he do if you just say "look, I messed up/did wrong. Just give me the ticket, I don't need a lecture"?

Awww didums, love the essay and all the whineging

MTFU and take the punishment, or just drive at the speed limit, save us the long winded whiney essay , always grates when people whinge that they need to get their car up to "operating temperature" hence the speeding

I live on a road like that and most ignore the speed limit , its fecking unpleasant when I walk my kids to the park with cars going past you at 40 hen the limit is 30 , most people are too lazy to walk anywhere to realise the extra speed difference does make a difference when you are outside the car

There are plenty of subtle hazards on your video, such as concealed driveways and traffic islands that would have me driving closer to 25 than 30. If I see a traffic island I think I bet there is a kid on a bike quick to ride across it that you cant see yet.

In 30's I very consciously don't go over 40. And that would normally only be when entering a 30 as my speed falls off - which is a bit daft as it's probably a prime place to be nabbed.

I think what's going on in my head is you can't really say things like "sorry, I thought it was a 40" if you were exceeding 40 anyway!

Saving this for posterity. Having a chuckle.

So this happened on my way home earlier!

Watch: https://vimeo.com/184745988

What makes this whole situation that bit more sickening is this....

Quick background; car/bike enthusiast since 17. Passed at 17, driven cars, vans, bikes, for the last 6 years covering well over 200,000 miles in that time! (Touch wood without incident, and yes.. that involves driving to conditions not limits. Shock.

1.The only reason I'm driving my BMW is I've just bought a second car MX5 and SORN'd it as I didn't want to bother paying for a full months tax for 3 days use. Even made a thread about it on here as I was unsure what to do!

2, I've just sorted all my insurance out, and payed through the roof for it to be legal - declaring all mods on my new car etc.

3. So due to SORN'ing MX5, I took my BMW diesel to work, and on the way home, I took a different route to give it a bit more of a 'run' and get up to optimum temperature. (only 5 mile journey - no good.)

Turns out it would have been cheaper to tax my MX5 for the month, or 6, rather than 3 days....

4. What rubs salt into the wound further is that I stick to 30MPH the entire way past the school, which by the way is completely dead at 5.30PM as the video shows.

I am not speeding at all in my head, merely concentrating in the roads and hazards ahead (coach) I simply leave the car happy in 4th gear and it picks up a few MPH.

5. Just to cut me deeper, I can't spot the Policeman as he's in mostly black and hidden nicely by a reflective sign and a dark coloured bush behind.

Convenient how his police car is parked up on the road adjacent hidden out the way and he's stood at the bottom of a hill with his laser gun isn't it?

6. What's even funnier - and if your reading this, you owe me a pint. Or 100. As I'm being read my ticket details, a Ford Focus ST in asbo orange and clearly modified with a sports exhaust comes flying down the hill and around the corner at well over 45mph. I actually laughed with disbelief at this point.

I'm 100% usually on the police's side and first to defend them in most instances, especially with all these morons online now thinking they are gods gift and recording police doing all-sorts. I was very nice to the bloke even though inside I was raging, and pretty much begged for a slap on the wrists but he wasn't having it - all about those tickets don't you know..

He showed me the laser gun displayed 38 and that was that.

Unfortunately this is a classic case of Police out to hit targets. Not a single piece of road safety about it. I consider myself a very good driver and always on the look out and driving to the roads conditions.

I used to want to be a Policeman but am firmly sure I've made the right choice now, at the old age of 22..

I guess a classic case of 'fk the system' can't beat it, so I thought a good old moan would help. It kind of has.

The money doesn't annoy me, the shear principle of how st the country is when it comes to road policing. Especially when complete twunts are allowed on the road in their micras/ i10's / aygo's that don't have a clue where they are going. The injustice is real..

/RANT

I don't suppose there's anything I can do? Are the usual 'he should have had signs out' or 'that gun isn't calibrated' worth their piss?

Cheers.

quiet lunch break here... smile

Times taken from your video, distance measurements using Daft Logic. https://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-dis...

assuming this is Brimmer Hill in Hazlemere??

Windmill Hill (6 secs in video), to the downhill side of the set back layby (just behind blue car on pavement) (50 secs)
=0.414 mile in 44 seconds = 33.9mph

Cedar avenue (33 seconds) to same point (50 secs)
=.178 mile in 17 seconds = 37.7 mph

or, (and I accept inaccuracies here due to the short time frame), but from the in and the out of the layby on the left....
47 to 50 secs
0.033 mile in 3 secs = 39.6 mph

safe to say I think the speed gun is working correctly.

Genuinely astonished by some of the replies on here! I didn't come looking for sympathy or anything like that and thought my attitude towards the police was rather good etc. (Bearing on neutral now)

I feel a slap on the wrists would have worked better - now I'm just pissed off. Lol.

I just wanted to highlight that the system doesn't work. Let's face it - it's bullst. Take the whole 30 out the equation, nothing there was dangerous or unsafe.

I've taken it fine, my fault. I just think it's such a horrific system.

Oh well.
