This should be a sticky mods.

1) Don't complain about speed limits on this forum

If you complain because you've been caught then you are just bhing and need to MTFU. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

If you complain and you've never been caught then what are you bhing about? If people didn't want speed limits they wouldn't have voted for those politicians.

Don't complain that the police officer is earning any money out of it. He only books you for 3mph over the limit because he doesn't have any latitude and that he's protecting you from yourself. However he is nothing like a speed camera as he can use his years of judgement.

Don't complain the police prefer to be holding laser cameras than catching burglars. After all Burglars don't kill people and speeders do.

All speed cameras are well sited and if you go past them without slowing then you deserve the booking because that level of inattention means you are minutes away from running over a child.

You can't argue with the law as it stands because everyone voted for it and if you disagree you can go live in another country. You can't have a discussion about the rights or wrongs of a law, because once the law it made it is self evident, and questioning it is irrelevant regardless of this being a discussion forum, or it being a nonsense law.

If I give the impression I am in law enforcement, then accept it as fact and don't argue with me cos I've seen too many fatalities on the road.

If I give the impression I am in traffic management, then accept it as fact and don't argue with me cos I've very clever, and the preponderance of nonsensical signs all over the place is not rubbish but part of a greater design normal drivers could not possibly understand.

I think that covers most of the stock answers given over the last ten years or so, and if you read them it may well save a lot of time on your part when you post expecting sympathy, and would probably save half the traffic on this site.

Problem is that for every normal driver on this forum expecting a realistic response there are a bucket load of internet warriors and pretend police who will pick from one of the above. They almost fall over each other to be the first to use them as put downs.

So my advice is that if you think your post could possibly be answered by one of the above stock answers then don't bother to post. The answers you are looking for are already here.

If its sympathy you want then go find a friend.

I think if you post something that's untrue or post from a position of trying to blame someone / something else, 'Wah wah I got caught speeding it's the fault of the police officer who should be out catching' murderers, then you're unlikely to get much sympathy.

So endith the lesson from Julian64.

The problem with our "road safety policing policy" is it mainly focuses on "speed Kills" where it would be more relevant to say inappropriate speed kills.

There are many sections of road that have speed limits on that many people feel are not right for that road. Also many mobile cameras are set up in areas where speeding is not really an issue. Let me explain what I mean. I am in a new area traveling at 55MPH when I come across a village that has a 30MPH limit at the very edge of the village there are a couple of house and that's where the mobile camera is. To me if he was more into the village then a) I wouldn't be speeding. (having slowed at a reasonable rate) b) If i hadn't done a) then I certainly deserve it.

I do agree that perhaps some people who post on here should Think a bit more before they post and if others have a different view to theirs don't call them names just accept it.

Having said that Julian64 your post does come across as a bit smug.

How about:

"This subforum is only for embittered policemen, wannabe lawyers and sanctimonious pricks who think driving at 1mph over the speed limit should earn you the firing squad.

Everyone else: stick to General Gassing"

Or "PH - speed matters". Not "speeding matters".

It doesn't really. You are thinking of Brake, and that organisation does not set road safety policy. It may well have an influence on that policy, if it does then it's achieving its aim. If you disagree with that aim then you need to set up an organisation to counter it.

And for people who are inclined to exaggerate.

I think you may be due a parrot RH. The satire of his post appears to have escaped you.

I hear you- allowing for much of what transpires here there's a certain amount of "not sure whether serious".

Indeed. I thought it was a general do-gooder post initially but then it all became clear..

Didn't the motorway limit come in because of the oil crisis?

In the US, it did.

It was temporarily reduced in 1973 to 50.

Here I think it was more about racing teams doing 170 on the M1, but I might be wrong.
