From experience I understand South Yorkshire Police won't offer a speed awareness course as they don't run one.
but Derbyshire Constabulary do, and as the Snake is in Derbyshire and not South Yorks...... wink

Hasn't the NIP been served late if it arrived 4 weeks after the offence?

Not from my understanding. The Snake Pass runs from Glossop to the Ladybower Res junction - the bit from there to Sheffield is the plain old A57.

The first letter dated 01/09 and the 'reminder notice of intended prosecution' dated 29/09 was both received on the 30th of September, which was yesterday.

That's my understanding too - needs to be within 14 days. Get yourself over to Pepipoo,

I thought there was usually a clause saying you had to inform them straight away of any change in your circumstances. (If he gets points).
Only way to know is to read your own insurance documentation. As with the "vehicle must be insured for DOC" - only your insurer can answer that one.

Usual question - have you moved address recently, is the vehicle leased, are you the registered keeper.
Only the first NIP needs to be delivered on time, so as the first one (to the OP) appears not to have, it's worth noting/checking the obvious reason why it didn't get there.

Get the envelopes out of the bin ASAP. As the other guys have said if the car is in your name, has been for a while since before the NIP, and you've not changed your details with the DVLA for a while, the NIP is out of date. Now, if the envelopes are undated then you might have a bit of a struggle, but you have a chance.

I had to do one for 79mph on the M180 ! Humberside Police.
Lucky you, my mate's brother got 3 points for 78 in the same place, also a couple of 35 and 36s around Grimsby a month previous, now 3 months or so into a ban.

I was overtake at approx 100mph by someone in a AMG Merc cresting the rise before the long stretch to that camera OP. Idiot didn't hit his brakes until literally 50m's to the van. I always wondered what he's have gotten.

Taking a "speed awareness" course nowadays is pointless as the insurers ask you to declare if you taken one, and load up your premium just the same as if you had taken the fine + 3 points.

In fact they're worse, as IIRC they cost more than £100.

Still worthwhile as it's another 3 points free on your licence....

And South Yorkshire do run a course.

I know a lady who attended the course and triggered a Gatso on the way home. Oh, how we laughed...hehe

You'll be lucky. Self-righteous influx in 5... 4...3...
Not that self righteous but c'mon - the A57 is notorious for covert policing

68mph in a 50!!!
What's wrong with that? In days of old, we used to pull 120 in rally cars along there.

Wonderful things these 50 limits, leave you exposed on the wrong side of the road for longer when you pass lorries.
