From experience I understand South Yorkshire Police won't offer a speed awareness course as they don't run one.
but Derbyshire Constabulary do, and as the Snake is in Derbyshire and not South Yorks...... wink
Shirley it's in both.
Not from my understanding. The Snake Pass runs from Glossop to the Ladybower Res junction - the bit from there to Sheffield is the plain old A57.
The city limit is about a mile before you get to then Ladybower Inn traveling away from Sheffield so I presume that's the county boundary as well.
It's the only city which has part of its boundary within a National Park.

Had an American in the car, going through Ringinglow village.

He pointed to the roadside millstone and asked what's that round stone there?

Just marks the boundary of the national park, said I.

National park? We're going through a NATIONAL PARK?

Yes...why?

You have wolves and coyotes and bears?

Aye...got some pretty wild sheep as well.....hehe

Taking a "speed awareness" course nowadays is pointless as the insurers ask you to declare if you taken one, and load up your premium just the same as if you had taken the fine + 3 points.

In fact they're worse, as IIRC they cost more than £100.
I got a SAC last year (first time I've had anything in 32 years) - it was 79 quid, so cheaper.
Only Admiral group ask about SACs - they wanted to bump up the OHs V70 insurance from 240 to 320 which is a hell of an increase, I was quite shocked. I took my business elsewhere.

Took a course about 4 years ago.

Never been asked on any my renewals since then.

However it did increase because of a low speed no fault accident but that's for another ranting thread :-)
