The article appears to be about Siemens who are based in Poole and holding a conference to discuss customer needs, nothing about introducing the enforcement equipment to Dorset confused

There's a yellow box at a crossroads junction that I go through most mornings and whenever traffic builds up, it invariably gets blocked by people on the 'major' road continuing to drive into it even when they know that they can't get through, meaning that people on the 'minor' road end up getting gridlocked.

I'd 100% support a camera system which stopped that selfish behaviour. Just because there are *some* badly designed yellow junctions out there doesn't mean that all cameras are therefore scams and to be resisted.

Same goes for traffic light cameras. More and more I see idiots jumping the lights *long* after their light has gone red and typically at high speeds (they see the light changing and try to beat it by accelerating hard). Some spots are especially bad as they are on quite fast stretches of road/dual carriageway. It's got to the point where I leave it a second before moving off in case I get T-boned. Again, I'd 100% support cameras at the problem junctions and again, I imagine you'd get some cretins arguing that all traffic light cameras are a scam to get money and serve no purpose.

Something to be grateful for is that Councils outside London do not have the powers to enforce YBJ offences devolved to them.

You forgot this one.* Powers taken under the Traffic Management Act 2004 - http://senedd.assembly.wales/mgIssueHistoryHome.as...

 * I am reliably informed that there is no truth in the scurrilous rumour that the Welsh threatened to cut off all water supplies to Birmingham and Liverpool if they didn't get their way - wink

Simple in theory, but when you advance into clear space after the exit, only to have some in a white van speed across the junction from the adjacent lane and push in, leaving you stranded in the box, it doesn't seem so simple.
OMG - same happened to me in Islington (Essex Rd exit), except it was a Ford Puma. They'd have NONE of it though and it cost me £100. It undertook me from the bus lane FFS and took the space I was going to take!
The law actually states the following:

The prohibition that no person shall cause a vehicle to enter the box junction so that the vehicle has to stop within the box junction due to the presence of stationary vehicles.

The crucial bit is in bold. If your exit is clear at your point of entry and someone else unexpectedly nicks that space such that there is no alternative path for you to take then the offence is not made out. See PATAS (now London Tribunals) Essoo -v- L.B. of Enfield (2130232767). The appellant lost but applied for a review which overturned the original adjudicator's decision. The details can be found by a search of the Statutory Register here - https://londontribunals.org.uk/ - (enter the case number without the brackets).

If your circumstances exactly match this then you should go to adjudication quoting the above ruling. Force the LA to produce all the camera footage rather than merely a still image of the end result. One of two things will happen. It won't be able to or you will be proved right.
Thanks. I haven't seen anything in respect of last week's incident, but if I do, I'll use this.
How did you get on? The exact same thing happened to me last week and I just got the bill in the post. An Addison Lee driver swerved into my lane, forcing me to stay in the box. Not really fair that I've got to fork out £65 for this!

MTFU and tell them you are not paying them, citing the above!

That's the plan. Wanted to know if others had any success here or if I'm wasting time.

Just seen this, the box is I think illegal, the corners of the box should only to a corner of the pavement, not way past it.

My missus got done at the infamous Hammersmith Broadway/Talgarth Rd/Fulham Palace Road one in December. We were in a two car convoy, her behind me (that was probably my mistake). We had two cars both full of children going to Fulham football for a birthday treat (don't laugh, we actually won 5-0), and I had warned her about the yellow box and the camera before we set off. As I crossed the yellow box I looked anxiously in my mirror as I could see there was only room for me the other side. Of course, she was yakking to the children and cruised into the box and stopped momentarily before the traffic moved off. She wasn't there long enough to baulk anyone, but of course rules is rules and the inevitable fine followed in the post soon afterwards. £65 added to an already expensive day out. Sigh.

What if you stop, get out lift the bonnet, rant and rave poke around and then drive off, can't you plead your car broke down. Or wouldn't that bit be picked up on the camera.

Agree 100%. I fought my No Entry case and won which was very satisfying . The councils are playing a numbers game rightly assuming that most will pay. Check on Pepipoo and if you have a decent case (sounds like you do) challenge.
